Intraprofessional relations discussed

On January 26, 1987, represen- tatives of the eight dental specialties and the Academy of General Dentistry met with members of the American Dental Assoc=at=on's Committee on In- traprofessional Relations. The Comm~t- tee was created in the Fail of 1988 Io study issues that hinder communica- tion between general dentists and spe- cialists and to recommend strategies for improvement. In doing so. it will continue the work started by the Special Committee on Fragmentation of the Association and the Profession.

In addition to problems between spec=alists and generalists and prob- lems among speciabsts, discussion at the meeting also focused on risk man- agement, institutional advertising, con- tinuing education, scope of practice, and referral practices.

The Committee also met on March 23 A final report will be submitted to the Board of Trustees at its August meeting.
