5 6 Problem: HOW
MIGHT WE HELP SAURAV
to easily transit from school to
work
Prototype 1: Schools should start a business involving students
• Students will gain experience • Awareness to new technologies (what
is new; what is outdated) • Overall idea of internship etc. is
known to work quite well so it would work well even in this changed setup where the college itself runs the business
• More details about college running the business
• Will each department start a company?
• Is this really viable? Who would do the initial investment for the business. A college would rather improve infrastructure than start a business.
• Instead of starting an own company, have tie-up and provide internships
• Once the employer hires students thru campus placement; provide internships before employment
• Alumni to give internships if they have their own firms
• Students should do school work (maintenance of equipment, website development etc.)
Test Prototype 1: Schools should start a business involving students (Tested with 3 people)
+ WHAT WORKED ∆ WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED
? QUESTIONS ! IDEAS
Every year the school invites their Top students (who are working) with 2 to 10 years of experience
The syllabus for that academic year is shared by the heads of the department
Professors and alumni brainstorm (divided based on their area of expertise)
Syllabus is revised based on the discussions
Alumni's help the professors to be up skilled on the new syllabus by sharing their knowledge and experiences

4 5 Problem: HOW

to easily transit from school to
work
Prototype 2: School alumni to collaborate with school to improve syllabus
• Everything • College professors can understand
and compare the current and future • More details on how the overall
faculty-alumni collaboration will work
• Will each department start a company?
• Changing the syllabus every year may not be possible?
• How to ensure that the syllabus is not completely industry/market demand driven and does not lose out on covering the important basic topics
• Together with prototype 1, let the students of year X decide the syllabus for students of year X-1 for a particular subject after the students of year X have had some industry experience. More than the faculty, the students of year X know what they could apply from what they just learn and what was missing when they went to work in a company. This will also give a sense of ownership to students and would even make them perform better
• Include more practical learning instead of theory
