Eliminates the requirement to make print copies available to officials of U.S. government without charge.

General public and U.S. government officials will continue to have free access to a redesigned online version of the Manual.

GAO vs. NARA Government Accountability Office (GAO) is charging

the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) with mismanagement of a planned electronic database of government documents

According to GAO the project is well off schedule and will cost about $1.4 billion

Sen. Thomas Carper and Sen. Susan Collins are going to reintroduce the Information Technology Investment Oversight Enhancement and Waste Prevention Act partly because of NARA’s alleged mismanagement

NARA says their management is fine, the project will be finished by September 2011 and will be under cost
