Assemblymember Steck is making it easier for New Yorkers to cast their ballots

Early votingAssemblymember Steck worked to ensure that Capital Region residents with full schedules can choose a time to vote that is most convenient by passing a law that creates a nine-day early voting period before any election (Ch. 6 of 2019).

He also passed a state budget that provides $10 million to help counties implement early voting and $14.7 million for them to purchase e-poll books and on-demand ballot printers.

When can you vote early?Saturday, Oct. 26 – Sunday, Nov. 3Weekends: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.Monday, Wednesday: Noon – 8 p.m.Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. If you are unable to vote during the early voting period, you are legally allowed up to three hours of paid time off to get to the polls.

Where can you vote?Albany County residents are welcome to vote at the Albany County Board of Elections, 32 North Russell Road, Albany, NY 12206.

Vote by district:

■ Boght Community Fire Department, 8 Preston Dr. Districts 1 – 6, 31, 34-59, 61

■ Lisha’s Kill Reformed Church, 2131 Central Ave. Districts 7-30, 32, 33, 60

Voting by absentee ballot If you are unable to vote in person, you can request an absentee ballot if you are:

■ Absent from your county on election day ■ Unable to go to the polls due to illness or disability ■ The primary caregiver for someone who is ill or disabled ■ A resident or patient at a VA hospital
