TRANSCRIPT
We are moving into a busy time of the year, and with it the opportunity for stress. Please take time to strengthen Christ in you. Find things that work for you, whether it be a
seasonal devotional, a walk to enjoy the fall col-ors, Christian music, or time spent in silence. Throughout November, focus on gratitude. Take time each day to thank
God for specific bless-ings. In the midst of chal-lenges, focus on those things for which you are grateful. Let’s continue to find ways to Strengthen Christ in us.

NOVEMBER 2018
Holiday Bazaar-November 3
Delta is hosting its an-nual Holiday Bazaar and Quilt Raffle on Saturday, November 3, 9:00 am-3:00 pm. We are looking for volunteers to sell con-cessions, work the cookie walk, and clean up after the Bazaar is over. Sign-up sheets are at the Com-
mitment Center. The Quilters have three beautiful lap quilts that will be raffled during the Ba-zaar. Tickets will be avail-able from the Quilters. Prices are $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00.
Continue to pray for the election and for all our leaders, that they would seek God’s will and common ground. Pray for the bazaar, and for Friday Night Fun as we seek to wel-come more families to this ministry. Also include the following members of the Delta family in your prayers: week of November 4: Jeff & Sandy Akright,
Pat Baker, Bob & Wendy Benezette; week of November 11: Nancy Bes-sette, Steven, Jackie, Jillien, Briahna, Grace, Jackson & Eli Bishop; Julie Boedeker; week of November 18: Mark Bradley, David & Holly Brock, Georgia Brown; week of November 25: Bob & Jan Buchanan, Kerri Bu-chanan, Jim Constandt, Ock DeRose.
The election will soon be behind us, and whatever the result, I’m sure that there will be some who will tell us how terrible the results are for the future of our nation. We’ve already been told multiple times that this is the most important election in our lifetime, and from the number of peo-ple who are voting early, it seems that people are taking that to heart. In the midst of all of this, I remind you that our security comes from God, not the government. Whatever
the result of the election, God is still God. Whatever the result of the elec-tion, God will still win. God’s love never fails. That doesn’t mean life will be perfect, or even easy. It means that even that in the most challenging of times, God is present with us, giv-ing us the strength to carry on. The next time someone declares that we are doomed, remind yourself (and those who live in fear) that we can rest secure in God’s great love for us.

Opportunities at Delta
An Exercise in Yoga
Come on Mondays at 9:30 am for gentle yoga appropriate for all skill levels. The group meets at 9:30-10.30 am downstairs—follow the
sidewalk all the way around to the back of the church to enter.
Taizé Prayer Worship Sunday,
Nov. 25
Take time from the busy-ness of the season to reflect and give thanks to God during our Taizé worship service on Sunday, November 25. This ser-vice is a time for Scripture, song, prayer, and silent reflection. It is a time to come and rest in the presence of the Lord.

November 4, after worship, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving! The Per-sonnel Committee will provide the turkey, and the congregation is asked
to bring their favorite Thanksgiving dish, whether it be a side dish, des-sert, or bread. The sign-up sheet is at the Commitment Center.
Remember those Thanksgiving meals where the whole family got together and shared their favorite Thanksgiving foods? On Sunday,
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4
We continue to celebrate the ways in which Christ is at work in and through us.
We rejoice in those who have an-swered God’s call (and the call of the
nominating committee) and agreed to serve as elders and deacons. We rejoice in the support our con-gregation offers to those who are struggling with illness and grief. Delta was well represented at the funeral of Ginny Probst in St. John’s and Julianne Hebert’s sister in DeWitt. We rejoice in your generosity and the number of winter coats and hats that you are donating for children in the Lansing area. We rejoice in the thank you notes we received from children at Elm-wood for the school supplies you do-nated. We rejoice in the ministry of our quilters, and the lives that are
Our next Friday Night Fun will be on Friday, November 9, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for children age 3 (and potty trained) through 9th grade to have fun and learn more about God. It also gives parents an opportunity to enjoy a night out. If you would like to help there is a sign-up sheet on the blue bulletin board in the narthex.
Christmas Stockings
Again this year, we are collecting small items (like lip balm and travel-sized personal needs items) to stuff in slipper socks on November 9. We are also in need of socks or slipper socks in all sizes and colors. Donated items may be left at the church office or in the “School House” box at the top of the stairs, next to the Personal Needs box.

touched by the gift of one of their quilts. The quilters recently took 10 quilts to Sparrow for chemo patients. We rejoice in the ministry of the Mad Hatters. They have made hats for the hat and coat drive, hats for cats at the humane society, and do-nated over 60 hats to the No Senior without a Christmas program. We rejoice in the number of people who have driven to Alma to visit Kathy Peters at the Masonic Home.
What gives you cause to rejoice around Delta? Where do you see God at work? Let the office know and we will include it here next month.
Showing Christ Around Us Mission Project for November Make a child’s Christmas a little better by bringing in new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots this November. This will be our third year participating in this ministry, and we are grateful for your ongoing support.
Delta Quilters are looking for people to join their wonderful ministry and fellowship. Starting on September 12, the Quilters will meet every Wednes-day, 9:30 am. You don’t even need to know how to quilt or sew; there are
also opportunities to cut or iron or pin. If you have any questions, just ask Rhonda Fort or Trudie Frick.
Mad Hatters, Knitting & Crocheting service group is meeting in the La Leche room downstairs on Mondays, 3-5 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Flora Gilbert at 517-708-0529.
Kids Hope USA is a program that pairs one mentor with one at-risk child, one hour each week. There is an army of Kids Hope mentors all over the United States and Australia who use this one-to-one relationship to give our most vulnerable children a future with hope. The children may
not be able to explain what the men-tor does, but they know the mentor cares about them. Would you like to be a Kids Hope Mentor? Delta works with Elmwood Elementary School to provide men-tors for at-risk children in grades one through four. If you are interested in
the Kids Hope pro-gram, or want more information, just con-tact Jan or Roger Small, 323-9238, or Jane Thomas, 321-4247.

Thank You From Sarah Jewell
Thank You From Elmwood
This fall your generous donations of school supplies were delivered to several location in the area, including Winans and Elmwood Elementary
Schools. Some of the students at Elmwood made cards to thank us for our contributions. These cards are hanging in the sanctuary. Check them out!
"I have been wanting to write thank you cards to everyone that sent me cards/support/love after I got out of
ICU (haha), but things just have still been rough. I hope everyone there knows how much that meant to me "
Sarah Jewell is a former Child Care Provider for Delta who has had vari-ous health concerns.
“Come and See!” 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law and the Prophets: Jesus, Joseph’s son, from Nazareth.”
46 Nathanael responded, “Can any-thing from Nazareth be good?”
Philip said, “Come and see.” John 1:45-46
In the Gospel according to John, people are invited to “Come and see” Jesus. Time isn’t spent in theo-logical discussions. A simple invita-tion to come into God’s presence is all it takes. Once in the presence of Jesus, God takes care of touching their hearts. We are invited to issue the same invitation to “Come and see.” There are many opportunities coming up
between now and Christmas to invite friends and neighbors to “Come and see.” Come and see the Holiday Bazaar on November 3. There will be home-made gifts made by both members and nonmembers. We will have a cookie walk. The annual quilt raffle of 3 beautiful lap quilts made by our quilters will take place. Come and see our Fellowship Meal following worship on November 4. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another and enjoy Thanks-giving favorites. Come and see Friday Night Fun on November 9. It offers fun and learning for children 3 years old (and potty trained) through high school while their parents enjoy a night out. Come and see our Taizé worship on Sunday, November 25 at 6:30. It is
a wonderful time for silent prayer and reflection. Come and see our drama, “In Search of Hope,” and help decorate the church on Sunday, December 2. Join us downstairs following worship for a Fellowship Meal. Come and see our Christmas Con-cert at 3:00 pm on December 9. The Celebration Choir, Bellievers, and a flute ensemble will provide music to get us ready for Christmas. Come and See our Blue Christmas service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12. Invite those you know who have lost a loved one in the past year or find the holidays difficult for any reason. Come and see our celebration of Christ’s birth at 7:00 pm on Monday, December 24.

Hope Survey 19 We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…. He-brews 6:19a
Our theme this year for Advent is going to be hope. We are asking for your help as we plan for the season. We have a simple, 3 question survey that is available at the Commitment
Center. We ask you to fill it out and return it to the box on the Commit-ment Center. You can also reflect on the questions below and write down your thoughts and email them to the office or bring them in and put them in the box. Here are the questions:
What does Christian hope mean to
you?
Under what circumstances do you seek Christian hope?
Describe a time when your hope in Christ carried you through a tough time.
