ANSWERS 2
The main image obscuring themasthead suggests a numberof things - the familiarity of thetarget audience with the
magazine, they can recogniseit without needing to see thewhole title; that the 'star' onthe front is of very high statusand more of a pull than the
magazine itself; layout needswhich mean it would lookwrong if the face didn'tobscure the masthead.

ANSWERS 3
The left hand third of the magazine isthe left side of the magazine whereoften we find cover lines, themasthead, logos, puff and evencover-mounts. It is important
because in general, magazines aredisplayed in shops with the left handthird protruding slightly and thisallows the potential buyer a quickview of the content without the need
to pull it out and flick through. It isvital in targeting the ideal readershipof magazines bought from retailoutlets. Not so relevant forsubscription magazines.
