Period Drama Protagonist are usually young and heroic, commonly

of white background.

The plot is shrouded by love, family and relationships.

In Period Dramas society is usually portrayed as patriarchal, women are seen as objects.

This form of drama is in a particular setting in a certain time frame, which is a good indication that a programed or film is a period drama.

Documentary Drama A docudrama (or documentary drama) is a genre of radio and

television programming, feature film, and staged theatre, which features dramatized re-enactments of actual events. On stage, it is sometimes known as documentary theatre. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docudrama

It protanes to real life.

They are commonly told through research into the topic of the docudrama. Yet if persons are alive they a give there first person account of the topic.

Crime Crime on its own in media has no definition for there are

different forms of crime, crime film, crime drama, and crime thriller etc.

The crime genre is usually associated with a death of a loved one or close personal acquaintance. it revolves around the protagonist finding out who did it. But it is not always associated with murder, it can be robbery, suicide, etc.

It commonly ends with narrative resolution.

It incites the ideal that good always wins.

Soap Opera Soap operas staged drams which follow a story with no

narrative resolution.

They can go for longer than the normal 30min show.

They commonly end on cliff hangers.

They also create different atmospheres whether it be a tense atmosphere, loving, atmosphere, hateful atmosphere, etc.

The plot changes over time.

Comedy Its entertains by making audiences laugh.

It portrays different forms of comedy be it by verbal or by actions.

It usually does things that we as an audience what to-do or would never do, a catalyst for the humor.

It ends usually with narrative resolution, allowing the audience to always be able to watch the show whenever without having to watch the episode before.

Sitcom A sitcom is a continues series which follows a story ,but

depending on the nature of the sitcom whether it be humorous or about life for instance , it does not always end in narrative resolution.

Sitcoms can be acted out as a play. This is done in sitcoms like, Fresh prince, Kianen and Kel, and Melissa and Joey etc

They usually relates to everyday life and go through and prevail over troubles and problems faced by the audience and everyday people. This could be focused on a particular ‘work force’ or an ‘Average Joe’.
