NAC-Arts Education Programmes (AEP)Dance Exposure

Students will learn about Singapore's multi-ethnic traditions and customs presented through dance. They will also be able to appreciate the 'Dance Harmony' that showcases different ethnic groups in Singapore living together peacefully.

Unity In Diversity (AEP0116096)

This programme will engage the students in more ways than one. Themed around Hari Raya, the students will be entertained by the colourful costumes, meaningful custom and unique traditions of the Malays. A few students will be called up on stage to model the Sarong and also dance together with the performers.

Kampung Life - Gotong Royong Concept (AEP0116081)

Through dance and music, the lively presentation brings back memories of the Malay kampong. Gotong Royong is a concept that villagers adopt where they work together to help one another in preparation for important and significant occasions such as weddings and Hari Raya.

Malay Legend Through Dance Drama (AEP0116087)

To inform, educate and create awareness of the stories of Malay legends. Students will be able to learn the value of respect and filial piety through the story of 'Si Tanggang'. They will also be able to see props and outfits of the villagers in Malay kampongs in the past.

Dance ExperienceMusic ExperienceMalay Dance for Beginners(3 Sessions Workshop) (AEP0116086)

Malay Dance develops grace and discipline in every student. They will learn the foundation of Malay Dance in Singapore namely Asli, Inang, Masri, Zapin and Joget/Ronggeng. A customised lesson plan/schedule, can be tailored to suit your requirements.

Asian Dance (AEP0115895)

Learn traditional ASIAN dance from Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. A customised lesson plan/schedule can be tailored to suit your requirements.

Drums of Asia (AEP0318257)

Students will learn to play the Chinese drums, Malay kompang, Bhangra Dhol and Darbuka. They will learn to cultivate a better sense of rhythm and co-operation amongst each other to create vibrantly organised sounds and dynamic rhythms.

Malay Music Workshop(Kompang & Angklung) (AEP0318256)

This programme is suitable for introduction to Malay Music, Kompang & Angklung, two of the most fun and easiest instruments to play and make melodious tunes and dynamic rhythms.

This is a special workshop for students to have hands on experience with Wayang Kulit - puppets and Gamelan. Students will learn the history, background of this traditional art form.

Dance and Music ExcursionMalay Dance and Music at Sri Warisan Studio (AEP0116085)

Visit the Sri Warisan Studio where students can take a closer look at rehearsal sessions and enjoy a workshop on dance and music. Students can also view the artifacts and photo exhibitions of the various performances of the group. This tour will provide them with the opportunity to understand and experience Malay culture at the rehearsal studio where the practitioners practice their art form.

The National Arts Council aims to provide all students with access to quality Arts Education Programmes. Endorsed by the national Arts Council, Sri Warisan’s programmes aims to make the traditional performing arts more accessible and interesting to students by encouraging them to participate in art activities at a level that they are comfortable with.

Since the (NAC-AEP) inception in 1993, our artistic director and Cultural Medallion award recipient Mdm Som Said designed several dance and music programmes for the Arts Exposure, Experience and Excursion programmes which up till today have been much sought after by schools from pre-school to tertiary level. Together with performers from Dance Ensemble Singapore & Jigri Yaar Bhangra, we formed the SMEDE - Singapore Multi Ethnic Dance Ensemble.

With a team of more than 30 dedicated and passionate MOE registered instructors and performers, we aim to deliver the most conducive workshops, mentally stimulating and visually captivating performances everytime we step into your school.
