TRANSCRIPT
I concluded that Art, Music, and Architecture's relation is one where three equals
have influence on one another. I began
describing this by drawing a circle and calling it the arts program. I divided
that circle into the three divisions.
UMA students were asked to imagine
that the school had funds for a new
building to house its three art programs.
Examples of influence: The repeating patterns found in Music can be visually pleasing in Art and Architecture as well. The creativity of Art can inspire Architecture and Music.
Guidelines limiting Architecture lead to great works of Architecture; sometimes, limits in material, or instruments can lead to great works of Art or Music.
SitePlan
This site plan shows the whole building.
Each wing is shown in more detail on
the following pages.
ArchitectureWing
Like reality, the architecture wing's first floor tiles express the influence radiating from Art, and Music
Within the field where the building is located, sits a small pond surrounded with trees and large rocks. That pond made the perfect center for the architecture wing
Art Wing
Assuming the art created by students
is intended for public display, I centered the Art wing around the
most public space in the building- the
main entrance.
Music Wing
The music wing, with little help from me, set itself up for the over all building plan. To make a good auditorium, seats had to arch around a stage. This perfectly allowed the stage to be the center of the art wing.
