Twelfth Independent Battery Ohio Volunteer Light
Artillery.
THREE YEARS SERVICE.
THIS Battery, formerly Company D, 25th Regiment 0. V. I., was organized
at Camp Jackson, 0., June 8, 1861, to serve three years. It was permanently
detached, as a battery, March 17, 1862. On the expiration of its term of service
the original members, except veterans, were mustered out, and the organization
composed of veterans and recruits retained in service until July 10, 1865, when
it was mustered out, at Camp Chase, O., by B. L. Fletcher, Lieutenant 4th
Cavalry, U. S. Army, in accordance with orders from the War Department.The official list of battles in which this Battery bore an honorable part is not
yet published by the War Department, but the following list has been com
piled after careful research during the preparation of this work :
