Measuring Guide

How to measure your gardenIn order to work out how much grass you will need you must first measure your garden. To do this, simply measure the garden across its longest and widest part. Make sure you measure into any alcoves; it is better to have too much Artificial Grass than too little!

You should then add 10 centimetres (4 inches) onto each measurement. This will allow for cutting, trimming and will help ensure quality fitting. Therefore if your room is 5x3.9 mtr you will need to order Artificial Grass measuring 5.1x4 mtr.

With 10 Artificial Grass in our Collection, we’ve got the perfect Grass for you!

Make sure that the area is clear and level. Remove all the vegetation and soil (approx 20mm) to a depth of 2 inches using a turf cutter or spade. We would advise you spread weed killer on the area at this point.

Step 2

Step 1

Install a sub base of builders sand, this base should be porous but firm. Spread this out and level to 35mm.

Before installation it is very important to prepare the area. Check all cables and water pipes are below the digging depth.

Step 4If the area you are covering has been dry for a while, wet the area the day before installation.

Roll out weed retaining membrane such as geo-textile on top of compacted sand. Geo-textile cover will help prevent weed growth. To hold this in place, nail it to the premier area using 4 inch galvanised nails.

Step 5 Unroll your new artificial grass. Stretch over your covering area. Tip: try laying your grass in different directions to find a pile direction youlike. Trim the boundaries carefully with a craft knife. Tip: it is easier to cut artificial grass from the back.

Step 64 INCH NAILS

Tip: it is easier to cut artificial grass from the back.Fit this to the area, by using 4 inch galvanised nails around the edges, at an angle to avoid lifting. Alternatively, you can use adhesive to fix the grass to the pegged down weed membrane. Drive the nails in 1Inch from the turf edge and every 4 to 6 inches along the turf perimeter.

Compac this level with a Rake, hand roller or vibrating plate.

Step 7Once this is all complete and lay, during DRY conditions the final step is to sweep dry kiln sand into the pile with a stiff brush. This help to weigh the grass down and help the grass pile stand.

Optional: You can use wooden battens, to create a boundary/edge around the perimeter; this ensures you have something as a marker to butt your new artificial grass. Using this you can nail the artificial grass to this when fitting it.

Things you’ll need to knowWaterproof outdoor adhesive will take approx 2-3 hours to dry completely.

On average most new artificial grass requires 6-8 kg’s p/sqm.

Sand dressing should be done on the same day as the grass installation.

Installing onto hard surfaces

Step 1Make sure the surface is clear from debris, or an grease which will prevent good adhesion.
