Construction and real estate have a direct link with climate change. Our sector is responsible for a major part of the problem because what we do emits more than 30% of greenhouse gases, causes more than 40% of energy consumption and our activity produces the vast majority of waste, generates one of the most significant consumption of resources and is responsible for declining biodiversity, particularly through the artificialisation of soil.
But our sector is part of the solution as well as being part of the problem. This is why it is directly affected by climate change mitigation policies. But it is clear that despite the efforts that have already been made, we are still wide off the mark. Construction and real estate operators will need to make a commitment to do much more and faster: carbon trajectory, widespread increase of renovation, etc.
Our sector also has a responsibility to bear with regard to the issue of adaptation. The building, construction and urban planning sectors have not been designed in temperate countries for extreme temperatures. If climate change is on the cusp of making human life difficult to sustain, any of our work projects not adapted to these changes may make it completely unbearable.
We must now begin planning our work projects to integrate climate change with a dual element approach that includes a "mitigation" component that restricts as much as possible, and an "adaptation" component to better prepare for crises.
CITIES TO BE IS A CONFERENCE THAT WILL PROMOTE A MOVE TO ACTION, OFFERING OPERATORS IN THE CONSTRUCTION, PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT AND TOWN PLANNING SECTORS CONCRETE SOLUTIONS DRAWN FROM FEEDBACK FROM ALL OVER EUROPE AND WARMER CLIMATES, TO "LIVE WELL IN CITIES LONG INTO THE FUTURE".

HUMANKIND TO THE RESCUE OF SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGWe all know that we have to take action for the climate, for the planet and begin building sustainably - individually as well as in our professional activity. Yes, but here we are, and we're not doing it. We are aware of the climatic urgency, the importance of transformation and yet this is still slow to become widespread. So where should we start? What practices should we be leaving behind and which new ones should we adopt? And, between the two, experiencing the whirlwind of change...
THEY WON THE TRANSITION BET, THEY COMMIT Regions, networks, institutions, businesses and the private sector are mobilising. Construction operators are coming together to ensure more virtuous urbanisation and projects, combining mitigation of and adaptation to climate change.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY IN ORDER THAT ALL PROJECT FIND THEIR FINANCINGUnlocking funding capacity is key if the building industry is to become the climate hero we expect it to be. To succeed at ecological transition, the project does not only need to provide a technical answer, it must also find its financing, its economic model. So, what financial engineering results from this? What public-private partnership? In this challenge, can green finance bring a new lease of life so that all projects can secure financing?
BRINGING THE EVENT TO A FRIENDLY CLOSEBecause we cannot part company without saying goodbye, the two co-directors of Cities to be are offering participants the chance to share their experiences in a relaxed and friendly way: sharing special events, recalling the most impor-tant commitments, telling interesting stories. Since there is certainly both a before and an after of Cities to Be, this time to come together will be an opportunity to discuss any future plans already being made.
