Video artistic pitch idea

My ideaMy idea is a soldier who is standing still his

helmet covered in mud and his face and clothes as well as the camera goes in to him his face is startled from this it then shows flashes of experiments but also gazes of history before his eyes as well as words fired in front of these flashes as drums increase in the beat to the frequent flashes , his eyes wide open and fully taken away in shock by the images he is seeing flashing in front of his eyes as he continues to see them he takes off his helmet and then drops it to the ground.

What this is inspired by.This was inspired by the movie

thin red line as it uses the power of art of using flash backs of seeing things that remind them of home but also traumas of there past. The use of narrating of the characters to represent the fear and feeling of been trapped.

The style The style of the video would be done

using close ups but also visual expressions of trauma through art. I would do this by visually use flash backs to emphasize the meaning of this trauma but also using juxtaposition to show the balance between them.

For example in the movie it would contain the loss of hope in the dark with the balance been the warming of a fire.

Location The location would be a woodland area

called Skipwith Common, this area is a dark but shrouded area which is full of silence. The area is a good example to place this idea in a whole to the idea. As well as the area was used as an airfield in world war two so bunkers still remain. However the main focus of the project is the trees and how the silence but claustrophobic environment can change you as a person.

My ideas details.The flashes of history before the

soldier of experiments but pure terror of the future and past flow before him like he was watching it only in his mind, the soldier screams but his voice cannot be heard only to see his face in pure panic the colours of the screen tint red and tears flow down this soldiers face as the flashes play on and on.

Artists to compare to. If I was to compare to an artist it would be

Terrance Malick this is because of his work on The thin red line, mainly for the use of artistic visual expression to represent the memories of each solider as they are among the jungle in Guadalcanal. But also the use of dream sequences to the movie. The artistic use of cinematography makes the woods of Guadalcanal seem like a magical place but an unknown place of pure terror of life.

He gives war a different meaning not just from what you see but from the personalities of the soldiers.

Francis Ford CoppolaThis director uses a lot of mental sides

to show the art of war in Apocalypse now but the true creation of the representation of what it really is. It shows no good or evil to the plot only the insanity of what the jungle can do to you, as in the movie you learn that people really believe coronel Kurtz really is a god his views on war change him to the insanity of what the jungle makes him.

Where this could be shown At Leeds armories this place has it’s own

galleries to show short example pieces as well as the use of expressions the soldier pulls while before his eyes the flashes of terror of history can work as the area has many turning points to display this.

Also another way it could be projected is having enclosed area and for each wall an image is produced from the click of a button the image is fired on to the wall until it creates it all the way to the end.
