RUTH DRAPER TRIBUTERaised in the Alliston area, Ruth lived in Cookstown for over 58 years. She taught public and secondary school for 37 years. Ruth was an accomplished, versatile artist working in varied disciplines: As a painter she was prolific, her mediums of choice were watercolours, oil, and acrylic and had a passion for china painting, and
pottery: she introduced many artists to clay puzzling. Ruth opened and ran the Art Unique Gallery & Gifts in Cookstown for 11 years, representing regional and local artists. As a founding member of the South Simcoe Palette Club, Around the Corner Studio Tour, and the Innisfil Arts, Culture and Heritage Council, Ruth was a staunch supporter of the Arts in Innisfil.We are proud to award a deserving student with the new Ruth Draper Award of Distinction this year, sponsored by J. Luchese.

The Innisfil Youth Art Show is a Juried Art Show open to secondary school students in the Innisfil area. An opportunity to showcase their talents in a gallery-like setting, this two-day event held in conjunction with the Innisfil Studio Tour is an excellent opportunity for our creative youth to experience exhibiting and connecting with the public. We would like thank Angela Taylor and Nantyr Shores Secondary School for all their help, and especially thank the ideaLAB & Library for making this exhibition possible.

SOUTH SIMCOE PALLETTE CLUBThe South Simcoe Palette Club was born 60 years ago in the stu-dio of Jesse Monkman above her Cookstown garage. She and her
students first held their exhibitions in the Cookstown Masonic Hall, but later moved into the Alliston area’s Library, St. Paul’s Catholic School, St, John’s United Church and the lower level of the old Millpond Centre. They now meet weekly to paint at The Adjala/Tosorontio Municipal Offices.
