CONTENTS / EDITORS LETTERWe are only a mere 8 weeks away from 2015. It's that time when we start to panic, thinking about whatwe have done or not done with our year, even though we just had a whole year to worry about that. Some of us start to panic, asking "will we make it on to the best of 2014 lists ?", whether it be amongfriends or colleagues. This is our last issue for the year and we are mildly impressed about our achievements and are hopingfor bigger things in 2015.

In this issue we bring you our fashion hawks for 2015 featuring two stars from Project Runway. Of coursewe leave you salivating with our best eateries around town for Christmas and Erwin Michel attacks ourfashion senses in our Art Begat Fashion feature. We certainly look forward to seeing you in 2015, we are happy with this year and ready for the next. Fashion HawksFashion is an ever changing game and there is always a new trend to follow. FashionHawks brings you some of the designers who will be credible for these new trends. Theseare the designers to keep your eyes peeled out for.

AAddnnaann BBAAYYYYAATTWhatever outfit Lady Gaga steps out in it always causes us to just go on ahead and

celebrate fashion. Take the 50,000 metres cling film dress she wore to the launch of herMadame Tussauds waxwork. The genius designer behind this creation is AdnanBayyat fresh out of Manchester. We first saw Adnan at Fashions’ Finest London

Fashion Week S/S15 Show, where he launched his debut menswear collection whichwas described as “a sensational twist of tailored tartans interwoven through a

spectacular show of elegance and refined splendour.” We were blownaway and we knew we had to dig a bit deeper. We certainly want to see more from this

zealous, creative, contemporary designer.Fun fact: Adnan was featured on CBBC’s show

Tottally Rubbish last year, making a dress from 310 plastic bottles.

CChhaarrlleess && RROONNCharles & Ron met in Malta where they set up their first studio with no prior

experience in designing. The self made designers use the Maltese culture as theirinfluence bringing us closer to that Mediterranean lifestyle. Charles & Ron havedesigned for some prestigious people in Malta and they recently added bags and

accessories to their collection last year. We are itching to get our hands on some ofthat Mediterranean influence over here in the UK.

Fun fact: The duo’s impeccable team work may well be down to thefact that they have been a couple for more than 20 years now.

RRyyaann LLOOThe magnificent wonders of Youtube. Ryan Lo was born and raised in Hong Kong. He was

part of the British Fashion Council NEWGEN initiative which promotes upcoming designers.Ryan Lo’s beach themed fashion presentation at London Fashion Week was inspired by our

favourite “Sex and the City” babe, Carrie Bradshaw. His designs are very much femaleinfused and we saw this in his SS15 collection which was full of candy coated colours andgirly soundtracks. He makes us girls excited about fashion and sells us a fantasy that we

certainly want to run away with.Fun fact: With many many thanks to Youtube,Ryan he taught himself how to

design clothes.

Fashion is an ever changing game and there is always a new trend to follow. FashionHawks brings you some of the designers who will be credible for these new trends. Theseare the designers to keep your eyes peeled out for.

KKlluuee bbyy KKeellllyy AAnnnnKelly Ann Garforth is the young lady behind this excitingbrand we stumbled upon on the net. She has a story to tell withher designs and we are all ears. The use of colour and patternthroughout her designs will certainly make you stand out in acrown and not in a bad way either. One of the main reasons wefell in love with Kelly’s designs is, all her clothes look like sheis having fun with what she is doing, when she is creating. Wecan see the passion and the enthusiasm that goes into her work.Perhaps it’s not every day that you walk into a clothes shop andask for the item that is oozing with the most passion andenthusiasm. I guess we are just different here at Demur.Fun fact: Her clothes are made right here in England in Yorkshire which

makes them organic and of high qual i ty.

MMiisshhaa NNOONNOOOOShe knows how to make a lady look well sophisticated. She has dressed thelikes of Kirsten Stewart and Gwyneth Palthrow. There is a lot to be said forMisha Nonoo. Her designs are rather provocative, not to mention her daring

act of having Brooklyn artist Dustin Yellin walking down the catwalk inone of her designs casually sipping a coffee. As you do. She also

collaborated with Yellin on her SS15 collection and it is from then that shecaught our attention.

Fun fact: She also happens to be part of the CFDA 2014-2016Fashion Incubator Program and she managed to get Lana Del

Ray to sing at her wedding.

MMiicchhaaeell CCoosstteellllooHe says he aims to make women feel beautiful with his designs. Wedo love a charmer. He was a finalist on Project Runway and he has

Kim Kardashian , Beyonce and Paris Hilton wearing his designs. Heis well on his way up. Michael is quiet a character, he is rumoured to

have his own reality show airing soon. He once had to dispelrumours that he was straight/heterosexual. Michael we love you for

making us girls feel beautiful.Fun fact: The entrepreneurial bug has been in him from ayoung age. Michael set up his first shop when he was 15.

Music HawksWe introduce you to some of the future hit makers before they even release the hits.Below is just some of the artist who we feel are worth a listen. In no particularorder they are:

MMoosseess SSUUMMNNEEYY“Mid City Island” brings a cool and mellow sound with a nostalgic feelto it. Moses grew up in Los Angeles and Ghana and he kind of reminds

us of Frank Ocean, that fresh raw talent just waiting for someone todiscover. We can see Moses’ strong work ethic which has already

taken him very far as we saw him as a supporting act at Beck’s concertlast year. He is certainly a one man band with some garments to die for.

Fun fact: Armed with his guitar and impeccable vocal skills,Moses Sumney made his four track EP in his bedroom.

LLooggaann SSTTRRYYXXThis lad plays the guitar that accompanies his powerful voice on his soft

melodic tracks. Logan is currently touring around the UK whilst working onhis debut album, “Blood, Sweat, Tears, Love, Laugh, Fears”. We are excitedabout Logan because his lyrics are sincere, emotive and engaging. We also

have a feeling he is going to go far in the music industry.Fun fact: His last name is pronounced Strikes.

NNOONNOONNOOSwedish pop trio NONONO is comprised of vocalist Stina

Wappling, and production duo Astma & Rocwell. Stinastarted off as a songwriter and met Astma & Rocwell throughher publisher as they were looking for a vocalist. Their own

music can be described in their own words as ”Urban – Indie,Melancholy yet hopeful with a bassy beat oriented

foundation”. The name NONONO comes from the grouphaving to say no to music that they were forced to do. They

sound like a rebellious lot and we want to hear more.Fun fact: Stina is a Brighton University Psychology

graduate who also works in a mental hospitalalongside music making.

KattyXIOMARABorn in Venezuela to Portuguese parents, Katty moved to Portugal at thetender age of 17. This is where her brand Katty Xiomara was born with theassistance of her husband. In our digging and searching here are just someof the things we found out about Katty Xiomara:

"Portugal is my parents country of origin. I knew the countryfrom previous visits and it has always fascinated me. I

decided I would take a longer visit and this is where I studiedfashion and I founded my brand. After this, the decision tostay wasn't so hard, I was adopted by the culture and the

charisma of its climate and its people. Professionally there areso many possibilities to explore. It is one of the countries in

Europe with better quality in the textile and footwear."

"I think what makes my brand unique is the fact that it is sopersonal. Actually, I don't feel the need to put a divisionbetween my work and my personal life, in my world the

two are one and feed on each other, organizing yourresources never run out..... With this I do not mean that thecollections are a reflection of myself, but the feelings I haveon today's woman, what it is, but especially that you want to

be."

"In recent my collections have come to incorporate many geometricelements, in this collection we wanted to smooth out these elements. Weshow the construction behind these colored blocks leaving the rows of

structures in sight. The geometries were lighter and more transparent, tomake them more organic melt 'em its contents, softening their outlines. This

is reflected mainly in printed but also in shapes and overlays of fabrics. The colours are quite fresh with contrasts within the same shades. Light pinkand coral pink, light blue and dark blue, white, grey and black. The fabrics

are lighter and more manageable."

"New York is a city with a unique identity. It is the perfect cityto reach the rest of the world."

Page 11: Art Begat Fashion by Demur

"I identify a lot with Twiggy’s irreverence in the 60 's andwith the elegance of Audrey Hepburn in 50’s. Nowadays it ishard to find this irreverence, subtle, simple and elegance likethat. I think Taylor Swift has a delicate mixture of these two

iconic figures."

"My husband is a graphic designer, so we complementexcellently. He represents the graphic and more serious sidewith mathematical thinking of the mark. With a special look

masculine which makes the nearest critic."

"The next collection, is always the next step. The desire to grow in newmarkets like America and Asia."

When preparing for a fashion show"The most important thing is to haveall the parts ready and coordinatedwith each other. Prepare the looksand the exit order. The fitting is

always a great deal of stress, becauseeach model has a different style and

ways to present the look, there isalways the need to adjust the piecesand when you're away from home

this process is more difficult."

Life afterProjectRunwaySamantha knew the fashion world was where she wanted to be. The arts and creativity just came natural to her. Attending the University of the Incarnate Word she

went in not even touching a sewing machine to leaving on top by winning first place in construction at the Cutting Edge Fiesta fashion show. Departing collegeSamantha’s vision was clear.

On auditioning twice for Project Runway she says "I didn’t make the cheer squad the first time. Doesn’t mean icouldn’t the second"!

"My journey has been a gradual mountain climb, getting better with every step.""Project Runway is TV. Its a great stepping stone for designers who want to get more exposure. It forces you to do

things you normally wouldn’t do in the real world"."I am still currently working full time and will start designing full time very soon. I showcased at fashion week in

2013 in NYC. When i got back Neiman Marcus saw me in the paper and told me it was a conflict of nterest and that Icould be taking away the Neiman Marcus customer. I was given the ultimatum of staying there and continuing my 2

plus years with them or leaving my design path completely….BYE Neiman Marcus""I think Kendall Jenner would be a great muse. She is young and fresh, she can also transform into anything and still

look great! "Next on the agenda..."Designing full time since so many orders are coming in! ahhhhhhh"
