Jan. 13 •Richard Edward Trapp, 25, of Gering, Neb., was served a warrant at Logan County Jail for Robbery With a Deadly Weapon (class 2 felony), three counts of Felony Menacing (class 5), and Theft $2,000 to $5,000 (class 6 felony). He is being held on a $250,000 bond. Trapp faces the charges in connection with an armed robbery at the Wal-Mart pharmacy in April 2015. •Leslie Morgan Moore, 27, of Holyoke, was issued a municipal summons at 1510 W. Main St. for Theft. •At 2:02 p.m., Antonio Sanchez, 33, of Iliff, was arrested on a Failure To Appear warrant. •At 5:23 p.m., Roberto Lefever- Morales, 29, of Sterling, was arrested on warrants for Colorado Department of Corrections Escape warrant (felony), Lakewood Police Department Failure To Appear warrant (misdemeanor) and Colorado State Patrol Failure To Appear warrant (misdemeanor); no bond on the felony warrant and $1,250 on the misdemeanor warrants. •At 4:32 p.m., police received a report of Identity Theft Uses Identity at Wal-Mart, 1510 W. Main St., that occurred between 12 p.m. Dec. 26 and 4:21 p.m. Jan. 13. •At 6:26 p.m., police arrested Michael Scott Jelle, 33, homeless of Sterling, on a Failure To Comply warrant out of Logan County District Court. •Two vehicles collided in the 600 block of North Fifth Street at 11:55 a.m. Jason Jr. Deleon, 19, of Sterling, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer in the 600 block of North Fifth Street and Julia Hoxie, 57, of Iliff, was driving a 2003 Saturn Ion sedan north in the 600 block of North Fifth Street behind Deleon. Deleon pulled to the right side of the road and Hoxie continued to pass the Explorer. Deleon attempted a U-turn, resulting in slight damage to the right side of the Saturn and slight damage to the front left of the Explorer. •At 2:40 a.m., Matthew Aaron Strehlow, 33, of North Richland Hills, Texas, was arrested at 2170 E. Chestnut St. on charges of Introducing Contraband in the First Degree, Possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 Controlled Substance and a warrant from another agency. •Police received a report at 5:34 p.m. of a Murray light blue 26-inch Extreme bicycle stolen from the 800 block of Broadway Street between 11:35 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 13. Jan. 12 •Brittany Ann Lopez, 29, of Sterling, was issued a municipal summons at Wal-Mart for Theft. She was trespassed from the business and released. •Police served a warrant to Anthony Alan Grindle, 57, of Sterling, at Logan County Jail for Criminal Mischief $1,000 to $5,000 and Domestic Violence (sentence enhancer). He is being held without bond until advisement. •Sheila Sue Fritz, 50, of Yuma, was issued a municipal summons at 3:14 p.m. Wal-Mart for Theft. Jan. 11 •At 8:46 a.m., police received a report of numerous power tools valued at $1,680 stolen from a dwelling in the 1100 block of North Eighth Street some time between 6 p.m. Jan. 8 and 8:30 a.m. Jan. 11. Dec. 16 •A Sterling business reported receiving a forged $20 bill between 12 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. Dec. 16. Logan County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 14 •At 7:40 a.m., deputies were dispatched to 19000 block of Chambers Drive in reference to harassment. •At 8:05 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 7000 block of Fifth Street in Atwood in reference to an animal complaint. •At 10 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 18000 block of County Road 35 in reference to a burglary. Jan. 12 •At 1 p.m., Wade Kincaid, 19, was arrested on a Failure To Comply warrant and booked into Logan County Jail. Sterling Fire Department Jan. 14 •At 8:04 p.m., firefighters re- ceived a report of a pilot light out at a residence in the 100 block of Park Street and residents were concerned about a gas leak. Upon arrival, no hazards were seen. Firefighters found the pilot out on the water heater and the gas was shut off. Occupants were advised to contact a plumber. •At 5:55 p.m., firefighters respon- ded to a gas odor outside of a business in the 100 block of Hays Avenue. Upon arrival, no hazards were detected. Fire personnel walked around the building with gas detecting equipment and did not find any hazards. Jan. 13 •At 4:31 p.m., firefighters received a report of an odor of smoke at 12220 Highway 61. Upon arrival, no hazards were visible from exterior. All occupants were evacuated. On the second floor, no smoke was found, but gas detectors did pick up a small amount of gas. Dispatch was asked to have Xcel respond. No heat or other hazards were detected. Upon arrival, Xcel did not find any hazards. Jan. 13 •A 43-year-old Sterling woman died when the vehicle she was driving sideswiped a truck-trailer before being struck by a second truck. Michelle McCoy, 43, of Sterling, was driving a 1995 Dodge Caravan westbound in the right lane of Interstate 76 as a 2007 Freightliner truck-trailer was in the left lane and a 2004 International truck. The van sideswiped the truck- trailer at about 7:15 p.m. according to the Colorado State Patrol, resulting in the van going into a spin in the left lane and struck by the International truck. The van came to rest on the left side of the road. According to the CSP, neither McCoy nor her 47-year-old male passenger was wearing a seatbelt. Both were ejected. McCoy died at the scene. Her passenger was transported to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley for treatment of serious injuries. A gofundme.com site has been established in McCoy’s name to help with funeral expenses. The Tennant Funeral Home in Sterling is in charge of arrangements.
