As of March 1st 2012 we can now accept card payments.

Welcome to the August edition!

Firstly, we have had some very positive comments and reactions to the changes we are making and our increased distribution in Rugby this month allows coverage of different areas to last month. We now look forward to improving the distribution of Around Lutterworth. So, if you know someone in the town who is not getting to see a copy, please let us know.

Our front cover this month features one of our popular, long term advertisers C S Motors offering ‘Cash for Cars’. Please do have a look at their full page advert for more information. We also have Colette Gibson refreshing our memories about her charity activities, her support of WSPA and the plight of the brown bears in Europe. They really need your donations, so support Colette today! Keith Jones from Keith Jones Photography again supplies us with some photo taking tips. This time he focuses on low light problems. We also have another great event for you to look forward to: The Tanks, Trucks and Firepower Show returns to Dunchurch for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Join us on Facebook (aroundmagazines) and VUV\Y ;̂ P[[LYWYVÄSL 'HYV\UKTHNHaPULZfor our regular comments, posts and details of our advertisers’ offers.

If you have any news, club dates/times or activities that you would like us to put into the magazine on a dedicated ‘What’s On’ page, please get in touch. Similarly, if you can give us any extra information for our ‘Useful Local Information’ page, we would be grateful.

Amanda

PS Thank you to all those who sponsored us and sent their best wishes for the Race for Life held at Rugby School last month. We had a great time and raised lots of money for Cancer Research. A selection of photos can be seen on our Facebook page.

Thank you also to Julie, Jodie, Abbie and Jenny who joined me on the day! Well done!!

I have supported charities (mainly animal and environmental) since primary school ^OLUHMYPLUKVMTPUKIYV\NO[PUYHMÅL[PJRL[Zfor Redwings Horse Sanctuary; which I still support. I raise money in various ways such HZ OVSKPUN H YHMÅL IPUNV JHY IVV[ ZHSLsponsorship for events such as Trekking the Great Wall of China which I did in 2007, driving challenge and the Race for Life. I am also willing to dye my hair various colours and do silly things to raise money.

I got involved with the WSPA because there are so many to help, I have a few I support each year, giving when I can and raise large HTV\U[Z VM TVUL` MVY H ZWLJPÄJ VUL LHJOyear; this year I chose WSPA because the focus is on brown bears that are kept captive PUIPSLMHYTZ\ZLKPUILHYIHP[PUNÄNO[Z^P[Odogs (both dogs and bears get seriously injured) and kept in cages for tourists at roadside zoos. There has been a sanctuary ZL[\WPU9VTHUPĤ OPJONV[ÅVVKLKSHZ[̀ LHYand they are in desperate need for funding. The way these animals are being kept and used is archaeic and unnecessary so I not only want to raise money but awareness that, as tourists to area that conduct roadside zoos and baiting for public show, that we must not encourage and take part in such events.

History of WSPA:

For 25 years, their aim has been to promote the concept of animal welfare in regions of the World where animal welfare is of least if any concern with poor protective legislation. There are 4 priority areas; companion animals, commercial exploitation of wildlife, farm animals and disaster relief for animals. They make a difference by educating people to alter their attitudes towards animals and to learn to share their habitat and by petitioning local government to ensure laws are enforced to protect animals.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the TVZ[LMÄJPLU[^H` [VKVUH[L 0 YHPZLTVYLwhilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
