veteransonlyand10teamstookpartonSaturday,3rdJuneattheRecreationGround.Afteranexcitingfinal,thewinnerswereEssemayfromLiverpoolbeatinglastyear’schampions,QueensParkRaisinswhoarelinkedtotheAshtonfirstteam.AshtonVetsfieldedtwoteamswhobothplayedwellbutnotwellenoughtomakeitintothesemi-finals.Theeventwaswellattendedandproceedsofthe
dayofover£500goestowardsnextseasonspitchfees.IntheChesterandWirralLeague,AshtonFCEssarwerechampionsofdivision1bythreepointsandarenowpromotedtothepremierdivision.Asreportedearlier,theyhadtomovetoplayin

2017.ThiswasrecognisedbytheScoutCountycommissionerwiththerecentpresentationofacertificatecelebratingafourthyearofcontinuousgrowth.ThisisnomeanfeataswearecurrentlyonlyoperatingaScouttroop.Thereiseverychanceofthisgrowthcontinuing
withtheappointmentofDuncanFullertonasthenewScoutleader.Duncanhasbroughtwithhimawiderangeofnewandexcitingactivitiesfortheyoungpeople.ThiswasputintoactionwhenAshton’sScoutstook

Parish Council News updates NeighbourhoodPlan(NP)andCommunityActionPlan(CAP)1.Thisplanconcernsthearea`sfutureland,
buildinguseanddevelopmentoverthenext20years.OnceapprovedandacceptedbytheCheshireWestandChesterCouncil[CWAC]itwillbeincludedwithintheirLocalPlan.Thismeansthatourviewsshouldbetakenintoaccountwhenplanningapplicationsanddevelopmentproposalsaffectingthelocalareaareconsidered.Forcloseto5years,theNPteamhasateachstage
consultedthewidercommunitytoascertaintheissuesoflocalconcernanddetermineandconsultonpotentialsolutionsandapproaches.TheintenthasbeentoproduceaNPthatreflectscommunityaspirationswhilstcomplyingwithplanningrequirements.Ithasbeenimportantthatallnecessarylocalandstatutoryconsultationshavebeencarriedout.TheworkhasbeencarriedoutbyNPteam
memberswhovolunteeredfromthelocalcommunity,supportedbyrepresentativesoftheParishCouncil.AdditionallyexternaladvicehasbeenobtainedandassistancealsoprovidedbyCWaCandbyCheshireCommunityAction.Thedraftplanwasreadyattheendof2016andwas
submittedtoCWaCtoreview.Oncetheyweresatisfiedthattheplanmetallnecessaryprerequisitesandwasstructuredappropriatelytoaddressplanningmatters,theyappointedanIndependentAssessortoconsiderthedraftPlaninfull.TheAssessorthenproposedmodificationsthathadeithertobeacceptedbytheNPteam,oradjustedbyconsultationwiththeAssessorandCWaC.Asatisfactoryoutcomeforallpartieswasachievedandagreedchangesmade.TheCouncilthenallowedthePlantobeputtoareferendumon4thMay2017.Thereferendumturnoutwas29%oftheresidents
eligibletovote.Ofthosewhovoted,96%votedinfavourofthePlan.ThefinalstageisforCWaCtoconsiderandhopefullyapprovethePlanformallyviaitsCabinet.ThisshouldhappenattheendofJune2017.OnceformallyacceptedbyCWACtheplannersarerequiredtoconsidertheNPinallrelatedplanningandlanddevelopmentmattersforthisparish.2.TheNPworkidentifiedalargenumberofitems
outsideitsscopeformal.ToensurethesearenotlostaCommunityActionProgrammeapproachhasbeendeveloped.ThisisamechanismthatwillenabletheParishCounciltobettermanagethemyriadofactionsandissuesthatlocalresidentshaveidentifiedthroughtheconsultationprocess.TheCAPwillonceinplaceprioritiseanddeterminewhichissuesmightbedealtwithandhow.TheProgrammewillalsoallowfortheinclusionofotherlocalgroupsandorganisations’actionsandprioritiesinrelationtothesematters.Prioritiesforanyavailablefundingshouldbeabletobeidentifiedmoreeasilyinthefutureasaresult.TheParishCouncilhopestoseetheCAPfullyestablishedandoperationalwithintheforthcomingyear.3. byrepresentativesfromEquityandSeddonstotalktothechildrenaboutsafetymattersconcerningbuildingsitesandaboutcareersinconstruction.ThechildrenattheschoolhavebeeninvitedtoparticipateinthestreetnamingexerciseandthenamessuggestedwillbeaddedtothelistwhichtheParishCouncilwillconsiderbeforethepreferrednameissentontotheCouncil[CWAC]forapproval.Inadditionthechildrenarebeingencouragedtogetinvolvedinapostercompetitionwithafocusonsafetyonbuildingsites.10posterswillbeselected,laminatedandhungaroundthesiteandthosewhocreatedthemwillbeinvitedinforsomerefreshmentandtobeshownaroundthesiteandhaveaphotoopportunitywithaJCB!TheParishCouncilandEquityareagreedon
holdingregularliaisonmeetingsonceworkcommences.ThesewillinvolveSeddonsthebuilderstoo.Inthiswasanyissuescouldberaisedbeforetheybecomecrisesandtherecanbeagoodflowofinformation.TheParishCouncilwillcontinuetohaveasastandingitemonitsmonthlyagendatheEquitydevelopmentandwhenpossibleAngelaGarrardwhoisourliaisonofficerfromEquitywillbepresenttoreportonprogress.AngelaandcolleaguesfromEquitywillbepresentat

volunteersoverthetwodaystookpartinaCommunityCleanUpexerciseacrosstheParish.DespiteverypoorweatherontheSaturdayspiritswerehighandwewereallencouragedbythepromiseofsomelovelyhomemadecakedandhotdrinksinthePavilionafterwards.Itwasamazingwhatwasfoundandwhereitwaslocatedandoverthetwoshortsessionswecollectedoverthirtybinbagsoflitter[seephotos].TheParishCouncilareverygratefultothosewhogave
theirtimeandworkedsohardonthis.Ithinkmostfounditagoodexperienceasthecompanywasgoodandtheimpactattheendofallthathadbeendonewasobvious.IfwerepeattheexercisewhichIthinkweprobablywillitwouldbegreattoseestillmorevolunteers.Throughthepickupexercisewekeptanoteofissues
wewereunabletotacklebutintendedfindingoutwhocould.SomeofthesemattershavealreadybeenreferredthroughtotheCouncilforactionandothersarelistedbelowforyourinterestandactionasappropriate:-·Blockeddrains·Overhanginghedges·Grassencroachingonthepavements·Dirtygutters·MossandweedsonpavementsApartfromtheoverhanginghedgesobstructing
pavementsandfootpathsoneotherthingwecouldallhelpwithistheremovalofoutofdatepostersandflyersfromnoticeboardsandtelegraphpolessinceitmakesthevillagelooksountidyanduncaredfor.
CommunitySpeedwatchThisseemstobethefocusofPoliceandCouncil
