The source

From here the Arno begins to be affected by zootechnical pollution from the Valdichiana area
Florence
In Florence, which is the main city in Tuscany, the river is polluted by the wastewater coming from textile industries, up to the area of Fucecchio.
Empoli
In this town the river is polluted by the discharges of many industries (agricultural chemical and ceramic)
Fucecchio
In this picture we can remark the high pollution shown also by the colour of the water
Santa Croce sull’Arno
In this area the Arno river is contaminated by the wastewater of numerous tanneries. In fact this is known as the Tannery
District
Pontedera
Our river meets here another type of pollution, the civil pollution, which
combines with the industrial one.
Pisa

a very high pollution rate
Mouth of the Arno river
