Dear Carlto Oaks Fa ilies;
February is a full month of student
assemblies, fieldtrips, student perfor-mances, parent education sessions, and art exhibits. Please continue to read the weekly Red Hawk Alerts via e-mail, check our school website calendar and check our Facebook page. The highlight of February is the annual Santee School District Art Show and Auction. The Art Show will take place on February 18th from 5:30 pm – 7:30 at the LDS Church located at 10052 N. Magnolia Avenue. All families are invited to come and enjoy student art on display. There will be dinner, art stations, silent and live auctions, art for sale and student performances. We look forward to all families coming to support our student artists from Carlton Oaks. Another highlight this month will be the 2nd grade Patriotic Performance on February 25th at 5:30 pm in the Carlton Oaks MPR. Prior to the second grade performance will be the Carlton Oaks PTA Founders Day Unit Meet-ing at 5 pm. Please arrive early to get your seats for the performance and also hear from PTA about upcoming family events at Carlton Oaks. As a reminder, this month in daily instruction, students will be applying skills and building concept knowledge. It is important that children are here in their classrooms to experience this learning. Also, we have two upcoming 3-day weekends (Feb. 6th-8th & Feb. 13th-15th) to celebrate Lincoln’s birth-day and President’s Day. We ask that you keep your children in school until
the end of the academic day on the days before the holidays and make certain that they return at the start of the school day on the mornings follow-ing the holidays. We also ask that doc-tor, dentist, and orthodontist appoint-ments be made after school to avoid having children miss valuable instruc-tion in class. Please also note that we have a full two weeks off for spring break (Mon., March 21st to Fri., April 1st) which should accommodate family vacations. Carlton Oaks is continuing to provide additional arts-integrated learning opportunities for all students and improving campus beautification with additional art pieces throughout the campus. We are looking for parents that have special talents and connec-tions with the arts to volunteer and share talent at Carlton Oaks. If you (article continued on page 2)

(article continued from page 1) would like to support additional arts experiences for Oaks s tudents , p lease ema i l me a t [email protected] - our students would really enjoy benefiting from your talents. We would love your support with upcoming projects for mosaic installa-tions, campus murals and student artwork installations. By February 18th we are excited that our Kinder thru 2nd grade students will all have received their iPads. Teachers are creating lessons and learning activities with iPads that promote literacy and comprehension skills. As a staff, we are excited to see the learning take place for all students at Carlton Oaks School with the integration of technology.
