Considering a career in Aviation Maintenance? HERE’S INFO ABOUT BEING AN AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

At ANC, you will train in many areas of Aviation Maintenance. Airframe and Power Plant Technicians, often called A&P’s, work on nearly all parts of the aircraft, including the wings, fuselage, brakes, tail assembly, oil and fuel tanks, engine, the

propellers (if any), and much more.

A&P Mechanics are highly trained and highly skilled professionals. They are usually well-paid, with national wages averaging between $15 and $45 per hour and approximately $54,000 per year. Many A&P jobs offer large amounts of

overtime and the opportunity for travel.

Aviation Maintenance Technicians have the important responsibility of keeping planes operating safely and efficiently while sending aircraft into the air and, more importantly, bringing them back down safely! They take care of servicing, repairing, and overhauling aircraft components and systems, including: airframes, engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and avionics equipment. Most A&P mechanics are good at math, science, and working with their hands, as well as paying close

attention to detail.

FAA CERTIFICATION

The Aviation Maintenance Technician program at Arkansas Northeastern College is one of 150 FAA approved schools in the US, providing students with the extensive knowledge they need in order to succeed in aviation maintenance. Students are exposed to a variety of theoretical and practical courses including: metal work, composites, welding, hydraulics, electronics, painting, and engine overhaul (turbine and

reciprocating engines).

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifies all aircraft mechanics. For an Airframe or Powerplant license, the FAA requires graduation from an FAA-approved school, like ANC. In addition to earning an Associate in Science degree or certificate, graduates of our program are prepared to take the FAA exams required for certification.
