Pulaski Academy qualifi ed 11 players to the Overall boys and girls tennis tournaments. Coached by Bill Topich, the Bruins won Class 4A state championships in boys singles, boys doubles and girls doubles. Boys singles champion Foster Rogers won his third Overall boys singles championship in a row.
ELLA COLEMAN made an impression in her fi rst year of high school tennis competition.
Coleman, a freshman from Bentonville, won the Overall girls singles title, beating Presley
Southerland in straight sets in the championship match. Coleman had suffered a 6-2, 6-1 loss to
Southerland in the 6A state fi nals, but took home the Overall championship after Southerland was forced to
retire in the middle of the second set with a back injury.
ELLA COLEMANFOSTER ROGERSFOSTER ROGERS won the boys Overall singles
title for the third year in a row with a straight-set victory over Hayden Shoemake of Bentonville West in the fi nals. Rogers, a senior at Pulaski
Academy, did not lose a set at the Overall tournament. Rogers lost only one game
in four matches during the Class 4A state tournament.
