conducts the Outdoor Expo to promote wildlife-related and other outdoor recreation activities. The public’s participation in these activities supports AZGFD’s mission and funding. The Department receives no Arizona tax dollars to operate and no tax dollars are used in conducting the Expo.

Outdoor Talks at the Outdoor Presentations Tent in Area 1:

• Specialty Shooting – Try out different types of specialty shooting or view demos (some venues charge nominal fee for ammunition):

- Steel Target Shooting (Honeywell Sportsman Club).

- Practical Pistol Shooting (Cactus Match League).

- Cowboy Action Shooting (Arizona Cowboy Shooters Association).

- Air Gun Shooting (Shoot Right).

- Benchrest Shooting (Ben Avery Benchrest Shooters).

• BB Gun target shooting (Note: Children age 8 and above are permitted to shoot BB guns at this area).

• Outdoor Exhibitors and Vendors at the Outdoor Exhibitors Tent.

• Outdoor Groups and Experts Tent – Talk to experts about everything from hunting to hiking.

• Outdoor Skills Campsite – Step into a real hunting camp, meet experts, register for upcoming events and more!

• Food Vendors, Restrooms, ATM and First Aid Station.

Demos in Area 2:

Fast Draw Demos – Cowboy Action Shooting Area. Held periodically throughout Saturday and Sunday.

• Lake Paddlemore – Try out kayaking at this large pond.

• Family Fishing Area (two large catch-and-release tanks).

• Off-Highway Vehicle, RV, Boat and Auto Exhibits and Information.

• Exciting Cowboy Mounted Shooting Competition (see schedule at right).

• Try out Clay Target Shooting with Shotguns (Benelli). For ages 9 and up. Nominal fee for ammunition.

• Food Vendors.

• Restrooms and First Aid Station.

Demos and competition in Area 3:

Thrilling Rock Crawler Demos – Held at the Rock Crawler area. Demos held at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday only).

Shotgun Shooting Demos – Exhibition shooting at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday at the Shotgun Area.

Flag Ceremony – Held after Stage 1 competition.

9 a.m. – Main Match begins. Held throughout the morning.

ABOUT THE OUTDOOR EXPO

Saturday, March 25

10 a.m. – Improve your bowhunting success. Looking to swing the odds more in your favor? Mike Ornoski of Cabela’s pro staff will have a few tips and tricks for the bowhunter.

11 a.m. – Birds of Prey. Come see a great horned owl and Swainson’s hawk, while Sam Huselton of the Arizona Game and Fish Department discusses adaptations and migration.

Noon – Shooting sports for women. Carol Ruh of Arizona Women’s Shooting Associates will be here to support and encourage women to become involved in the shooting sports.

1 p.m. – Venomous reptiles. Spring is here and desert critters like rattlesnakes and Gila monsters are out and about. Randy Babb of the Arizona Game and Fish Department will bring them and share some fun facts.

2 p.m. – Wilderness Survival. Would you know what to do in an outdoor survival situation? Jeff Sorensen of the Arizona Game and Fish Department will offer basic skills that could come in handy if you ever become lost or stranded.

3 p.m. – All about trout. From the hatcheries to Arizona’s high-country waters, David Insley of the Arizona Game and Fish Department will “talk trout.” Expect a few fishing tips, too.

Sunday, March 2610 a.m. – An introduction to handguns. Interested in handguns but don’t know where to start? Cliff Saylor of Cabela’s pro staff will cover the basics.
