This state of the art hospital is currently undergoing a major expansion project which has been started as of March of 2010. Expanding its already extensive medical ca re with the latest of diagnostic, therapeutic and rehab services. The emergency and trauma center is the first to be expanded in the new addition. Cox, Jr., Texas Fres h- water Fisheries Center (TFFC) combines visitation and outdoor education with a produc- tion fish hatchery. Call 903-676-2277 Henderson County Fairpark– The fairpark complex has approx 90,000 visitors a year and the facility is booked for a wide v ariety of weekend and weekday events including, Best in Texas Barrel Racing, college and high school rodeos, Nat ’l Santa Gertrudas Show, Cattle Barron’s Ball by Elder Dodge, USTRC Team Roping, US Pony Show. It hosts 2 PRCA Rodeo every year. The Athens Chamber Rodeo in April and the MDA Benefit Rodeo and Concert. Call 903-677-6354 The Athens Cain Center- The Cain Center sits nestled in the heart of the beautiful, 85-acre Cain Park, surrounded by tennis courts, fishing ponds and a walking-jogging trail. In 1983, the Cain Foundation built and donated this unique facility to the people of Henderson County. Since then, it has served all of East Texas, both as a fitness center with its many exercise areas, and as a civic center with rooms available for a wide v ariety of functions. Many visitors come to the Cain Center to enjoy the spectacular view overlooking Cain Park. Some locals visit the center to take daily walks down the long corridors, affording them the comforts of the indoors, regardless of the weather outside.
