VOLUNTEER ROLE: Archival Imagery Digitisation & Conservation Volunteer
Role Purpose
To assist in the digitisation of the AmberSide print, film, video, slide and document collection as part of the Heritage Lottery funded AmberSide Access and Engagement Project
Tasks
• Digital scanning of still and moving imagery via
specialist scanning equipment; • Digital cleaning of imagery using specialist computer
software; • Cataloguing and database administration; • Print, slide and document conservation
Skills & Qualities
Essential:
• Reliable and trustworthy; • Ability to work in a methodical manner; • Patience working on repetitive tasks; • Eye for detail; • Interest in imagery; • Computer literate; • Good listening skills; • Able to work as a team and independently
Desirable:
• Experience handling negatives and photographs; • Excellent typing skills; • Knowledge of scanning software and previous
scanning experience; • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and
Lightroom; • Experience of using Microsoft Excel and databases; • Experience of using Apple Mac computers

Time Commitment
A minimum of 6 hours per week, available in 3-hour sessions. (10am -1pm & 2pm-5pm)
Support & Training
Training and support will be provided regardless of experience and knowledge but tailored to individual needs. The volunteer will work one to one with a supervisor.

• Willingness to abide by organisational policies • Willingness to use available support systems • Co-operation with administrative tasks • Commitment to attend on-going training
Salary
As this a volunteer role, we are unable to offer a wage but travel costs will be covered.
