02.Hybrid Peking

On how to form a space and tell a stroy

Many things are formidable, and none more for-midable than Man!

Man are skillful! He together build cities. He to-gether build up species stronger than He, in big cities like BJ.

Archetypes of things are erected, morphed, copied, pasted, reproduced, generation cas-cading through generation. Man haven’t got time to deal with the things in this city; He haven't got time to acquire some knowledge of how to deal with those things in this city. He must be:

More quick good energy-saving.

Hybrid Beijing is more of a piece of context than an architecture project. It tries to explore a new way of story telling and space making in an in-formation age like now.

The site of the project is at Wangfujing. A histor-ical place with mixed context and complicated condition. The area is surrounded with architects which context could be derived from Western, Chinese, historical, contemporary.

So the best word to describe the site is "Hy-brid".

The site is located in Kaifeng, HeNan Province, China, which was the biggest city in the world during Song Dynasty 1000 years age, while now has dramatically declined.

The residents here have serious Song complex. Most of the nearly constructed architecture are Song Style with poor quality.

So for this special urban con-text, we Started to research from Song drawing, aimed at extracting abstract element and try ing to coordinate with modernism archi-tecture system.

The project is a study, and a cul-tural sarcastic. 大宋

04.The Heidegger's MuseumOn how to create a mini-size universe of meaning

The site of this project is at Xi Zhimen Bridge, Beijing. The bridge is famous for its absurd complexity which is necessary to meet the function of transportation.

The bridge itself is a notorious labyrinth as the trans-portation centre for Beijing.

The project aims to exploring the paradoxic of the site and the city. Revealing the complexity and blur of the crazy Beijing city in an ironic way.

The project itself is a self-contained Mini-Universe. Mixing the conceptual meaning of Heidegger, the Chinese architecture elements, conceptual diagram -based form manipulation, a small but rich inner uni-verse is given birth.

Here is Beijing, a mad city full of complexity and para-doxical.

House for die Göttlichen

The house is a church for god in a Chinese way.

I took the prototype of the floating temple. A traditional temple build on the cliff. Combined with the centre archetype in west-ern culture, The temple was rolled and centralized as rendered. The temple is an attempt to combine Chinese God and West-ern God.

The house is for Earth. The great Earth bear and unfolding all of us.

The prototype of this house is some mediums in an alien plan-et. After the heterization to nature, the earth has became a pre-cious specimen which needed to be protected and raised with great care.

This house is a symbol of sky, or to say, a monument to sky.

There is no real house here. Only a big landscape fall down from floor, with a giant spotlight erecting at the centre. The light is always glittering to the sky, to the Himmel above.

House for die Sterblichen

This is the house for those about to die, or to say, people.

The house is composed of layers of floor extracted from the architects all over Beijing. Just like a CCTV's floor, a T3 airport's floor and many houses else. So the architecture itself is a mon-ument of people,or civilization in Beijing.
