THE SPIRETEC COMPETITION SPIRETEC was an architectural design competition for a 62,750 square mixed use area that is part of an it office complex, spread across approx. 85000 square meters of land; with a built potential of approx. 1,75,000 square meters. The project is in greater Noida; part of NCR. The challenge was to examine the ideas of grafted urbanity and create a design that can witness, influence and remain pertinent to the sharp, anticipated transformation of the region. The same competition brief was adopted in our 6th semester studios with some changes. The height of the volumetric scope at the back was kept 100 m and the one in front was kept 27 m in the actually competition brief, but while adapting it for studio design exercise the height restrictions were removed. Also, we were asked to design the circulation and the way the buildings would look, rather than designing the interior layouts of all the floors. So, essentially, our studio exercise was design of an iconic complex. Also, Before starting this exercise, we were to study high rise buildings and the way cores function.

The extra spaces created because of the staggered form of the wall can be Used to keep the books in case there is more participation by the masses than expected, which means

Lets be prepared for any situation !!!!!

The one feet high struts will be covered by a roll of transparent plastic. As soon as the stack of books reach the one-feet height, the transparent plastic could be stretched from one strut to another, thereby binding the stacks. Now a fresh stack of books can be placed on this firm base, and another set of aligned struts can be fixed to struts below.

The basic idea behind the design was to make it look iconic (in sync with the positive motive behind this whole project). There is an acrylic skeleton running as a spine, and allowing visibility from one side of the wall to another invoking the thought of an open-mind achieved through education.

PLAN CONCEPTUAL SKETCH OF THE GREAT WALL OF EDUCATION

THE SCHEME WAS REALISED IN 4 CITIES OF THE INDIA , MUMBAI,KOLKATA,CHENNAI,NEW DELHI
