Expolio Proposal for WS Expo dopo Expo
Expo 2015 is been a great event for the city of Milan and for all Italy. The aims of this proposal are to avoid the waste of money and space deriving from abandoning the area that hosted Expo and the re-use of some of the structures left there. This is the reason for the name Expolio, from latin word expoliare, to indicate the practice of using some pieces of an architecture to build another.Services and clusters buildings used during the Expo will be dismounted and their structural modules will be used to configurate new aggregations for brand new functions.
Expo area is crossed from two major routes: Cardo and Decumano, which are partially covered with a tensile structure along all the lenght of the way. Goal of this proposal is to keep the frames of theese structure and integrate them with many technic tools in order to make the covered spaces liveble achieving enviromental comfort.There will be a new ETFE pillows coverage, using existing tie-beams with some small integrations,
and a new curtain wall system to close the sides between the frames with modular polycarbonate panels provided with their own self-supporting body. Both the coverage and the side walls will be highly performing from the point of view of the thermal comfort and the sun shading; infact both of them will be provided with semitransparent photovoltaic film in order to make the entire covered space self-sustainable, granting a great energy saving.
Sandbox for Productive City Contest
Sandstone is a concept design to obtain a minimal residential unit from a multifuncional, ecosustainable, low cost, biodegradable block.
Starting from the individuation of the situations that could need this solution, the block can be in first place a big plastic bottle to contain water to transport where needed thanks to an optimal packaging for containers.
After this first use it can be used to build walls, floors and ceilings. This is possible because the shape of the blocks let them to interlock each other without danger of slipping out and distributing uniformally

vertical loads.Being made of simple plastic the blocks could degradate very soon in hard climatic conditions, so it can be filled with sand becaming a very heavy and strong block, but this could take deformations to the shape due to the weight.To resolve this issue can be used bacillus pausterii, a bacteria that with a misture of urea, water, calcium cloride turns sand in sandstone in a few hours. This solution makes possible to let degradate the plastic till it vanishes and leaves just sandstone blocks with an ideal thermal inertia for a residential unit.Others possible uses of sandbox, with some specific adds, can be: floating platforms, greenhouses, reuse of abandoned structure frames, modular towers, luxury units, ecc.

Qube for Pulpit Rock Look-Out
The purpose of Qube proposal is to use elements able to insert in the non- man made environment of Lysefjord and at the same time completely detach
and generate from nature itself. Pure forms: sphere and cube. These lay on the ground of the pulpit rock so that this new space generated has wide visual angles that let visitors’ eyes to admire, even from the inside, the natural
wonders in front of them.From a purely perceptual vision of a place to safeguard, it affirms a vision of the landscape as well as a collective good rooted in the social consciousness of the visitors, who responsibly defend it. So it is redesigned through a minimally invasive intervention, which provides the posing on the ground of two pure elements, a sphere and a cube, which dialogue between them by means of a staircase capable of changing its inclination. The final sense of the project is to improve the charisma of the place. Chosen materials are high performances plastics as polycarbonate, wood, steel and aluminum, the cube’s constructive system allows to rotate the roof, covered by photovoltaic film, using two sliding wood frames. This makes the building very sustainable by collecting the water,

and adapting to the solar and wind expositions. Perimeter walls are made by polycarbonate blocks whose particular profiles allow a better grip between the parts. The inner space has a circular plan on two floors, is independent from the walls and hosts the main functions of a mountain refuge. On one corner of the cube there’s a metal staircase capable to move up and down together with the sphere, made of steel, aluminum and polycarbonate, from which the hikers can admire the wonderful view of the Lysefjord.

Trulli complex in Ostuni
The town of Ostuni is very famous in the world for its traditional architecture: trulli. In this case the existing complex of trulli was a ruin seriously damaged from
carelessness and abandon.The proposal is divided in two parts: -restoration of the existing building with fixing of the major damages;
-building of a new part of the complex with the same style of the originals.The building will be used as a tourist facility with a reception part, bedrooms, external swimming pool and common spaces for the guests.
