SEAPLANE AIRPORT

WATSON ISLAND, MIAMI

The Seaplane Airport Project on Watson Island was an initiative to restore a cultural aspect of Miami that had been lost. The project proposal focuses on sustainability issues and uses ship-ping containers for a portion of the construction which also relates the building to the shipping port which is right across the water channel. The design features a luxurious restaurant on the top floor with an outdoor seating area overlooking the plane take-off and landing area on the water.

IT IS NOT HARD TO TELL THAT THERE IS A GREAT AMOUNT OF DIVERSITY AND CULTURE IN THE AREA OF WYNWOOD. THESE FEATURES STAND OUT AND WORK TO CREATE ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING LOCATIONS IN SOUTHERN FLORIDA IN TERMS OF ART AND CULTURE. THIS MAKES IT A PERFECT LOCATION FOR A PROJECT SUCH AS THIS, WHICH HAS GREAT POTENTIAL TO GIVE THE COMMUNITY A STRONG IDENTITY AND LET THEIR DIVERSITY FLOURISH AND GROW.

MY CONCEPT IS TO GIVE THE AREA A BUILDING IN WHICH THE GREAT DIVERSITY OF THE AREA CAN COME TOGETHER AND CREATE A UNIQUE BALANCE BETWEEN ENTERTAINMENT AND ECUCATION. THE CIRCULATION OF THE BUILDING SERVES TO UNIFY THESE TWO MAJOR PROGRAMS AND BRINGS BOTH STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS TOGETHER. WHETHER IT’S IN AN EDUCATION SETTING (LIBRARY) OR AN ENTERTAINMENT SETTING (THEATHER), SPACES ARE CREATED TO ENCOURAGE THE UNIQE DIVERSITY OF WYNWOOD TO KEEP FLOURISHING.

MEDIATHEQUE

WYNWOOD, MIAMI

A mediatheque, basically a media library, serves multiple functions for the client, Sundance Insti-tute. The site in Wynwood is perfect due to the rich culture, art, and diversity surrounding the building. The project aims to bring the com-munity together on multiple levels and create an environment to learn, teach, produce, and show-case. The design features a grand staircase which houses the library portion of the program with-in its steps and a grand theater space opposite to balance the building. The mediatheque will give the area a strong identity and a space in which the community can collaborate and grow.

PRANA FAZEDA RESORT

CAMPOS DE JORDAO, BRAZIL

The Prana Fazeda Resort Housing scheme is a proj-ect proposal for a developer and investor in Brazil looking to create a luxury vacation neighborhood equipped with spas and meditative views. I chose to approach the topographic site by lightly touching the hillside. The idea is that the environment remains fairly untouched and that the visitors can enjoy be-ing surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. The design incorporates large glass walls that slide open to allow natural breezes to enter the house and create a connection to the beautiful landscape.
