These areas have a high

which, though beneficial to

the human body in short

amounts, can cause skin

cancer in prolonged

exposures.

These shaded areas provide a

refuge from the sunlight, and

thus are shown to have a

noticeably lower temperature

than its surroundings; around

2-3 degrees Celsius difference.
