Details: You can create details by using
details created in other CAD
packages or by using geometry from
your existing drawing. Open the
Afloor project.
Let’s say that you need to create a
detail of the door framing and
connections.
Under the DOCUMENT tool box
locate DETAIL. You may have to
use the slider on the right
to find it.
A couple of interesting
options are that you can
make any size detail box
and of course ArchiCAD
automatically place the
information on the correct
layer.
Using the SQUARE option window
corner of the door as shown at right
Page – 2
Use corner as shown for anchor point
Resulting detail and notation information
We now have detail information in the Project
Navgator – you can tell because of the plus sign.
Select the PLUS sign.
Double click on your new detail.
Page – 3
You can now
add or delete
information
from the
detail. For
instance use
the select tool
to delete the
door number.
We can
now use
any
tools in
the
toolbox
for the
detail. We can use text
to label the material or
information about the
frame – or add fill or
even add new
information with lines,
arcs, etc.
Page – 4
When detail is complete
detail double click back to
FIRST FLOOR in the
navigator – you can return
at any time to update or
change the detail.
RIGHT mouse click on
DETAILS in the project
navigator and select NEW
INDEPENDENT DETAIL.
This option allows for changing this
information if you would like.
Page – 5
Select CREATE. You now have a blank sheet where you may create a
completely new detail
or
You could bring in a
detail that was drawn
in another CAD
package by selecting
FILE – EXTERNAL
CONTENT and
DRAWING
MANAGER.
I could now find a
detail file created
elsewhere and
insert it into my
ArchiCAD detail.
Lesson is complete.

Project Info:
You can place information about your project in a specific place and then
reuse that information when you need to. ArchiCAD is all about making life
easier for the user.
Go to FILE and INFO and then select
PROJECT INFO.
Please fill in information for this project -
you can make it up – so we can use that
information in SHEETS.
Fill in information as shown or
make up information for
Project Info.

Select SHEETS from the Navigator
Find and RIGHT CLICK on MASTERS and
select NEW MASTER LAYOUT
Name your layout and select CREATE

size.
Select OK.

This is a
blank
sheet –
we can
now
create a
title block
for the
sheet. I
used a
polyline
and measured from the left hand corner with the X option – you need to put
in inches as the program defaults to feet. So type in X and then 30”+ and
draw a line down the side of the page.
Draw lines as desired for
title block – use text to
label.
Page – 9
Using the
Auto insert
option you can
place in
Project
information
automatically
into the title
block.
This is an example of a
couple of items that
could be included in the
title block.

Fields filled in
automatically from the
information we placed in
the FILE pulldown and
PROJECT INFO.
Double click on
On A101 first floor
plans.
To use our new title sheet for
this project you can right
click on A-101 and select
layout settings.
Page – 11
Arrow down on Master
Layout and select the layout
you just created.
Select OK
Drawing now
