CHURCH REOPENING: A massive effort went into
preparing the church for its
reopening last Saturday. Many
thanks to all who scrubbed,
polished, sorted etc. to have
the church ready for the
Archbishop’s visit. The renova-
tion is almost complete. Work
is continuing in the Parish
Office and Oratory area and will
be completed by the end of the
month. The Parish Office will be open after weekday Mass until 1pm in the Parochial House Sperrin Road until the work is
finished. Memorial Plaques will be sorted during September and be back in place after
consultation with the Families in
the Autumn. The new layout of
the church better reflects the current liturgical law and also the needs of the parish commu-
nity. The gathering for the Eucharist should be ’together’ and it is my hope that having given it prayerful consideration
most people will gather in the front part of the church for the community Masses. The Baptism font should be located as near as possible to the front door of the
church to emphasise Baptism as the first Sacrament of Initiation on the path of faith. Faced towards the altar it reinforces
the path which all the baptised travel together towards the Eucharist, the source and summit of the Christian life.
