Background to TMCTropical Marine Centre (TMC) has been Europe’sleading supplier of quality marine fish andinvertebrates to the ornamental trade since 1970,importing more than 1200 species of livestock from26 countries around the world.

TMC supplies over 1500 retail stores in the UK andEurope with livestock and aquatic products and hasa well established distribution network in mainlandEurope with at least two distributors in each of themajor European countries.

Tropical Marine Centre's objective has remainedunchanged since the company was established in1970 - to be the leading wholesaler of marinelivestock to the trade with livestock ethicallysourced, handled and imported and investmentmade in a sustainable trade.

Optimum HealthFrom the moment TMC livestock is collected, with all fish being individually net caught, everything possible is done toensure the optimum health and welfare of the livestock and to minimise stress.

Whilst in TMC's fish holding facilities all livestock is fed only on Gamma Foods and every day we feed over 250,000 fish andinverts across our four fish houses!

TMC staff ensure feeding takes place as many times as possible during the day (up to 6 times), to try to replicate theconstant grazing many marine fish are used to when on the reef, thereby minimising stress for the livestock. A variety ofGamma Foods are used - frozen, dry and liquid - and we regularly try different formulations to constantly improve feedingsuccess. We understand different species’ needs extremely well and also understand that variety, attractiveness andfrequency is key to getting the best health and vibrancy out of our livestock. This strict feeding regime, using only thehighest quality feeds, means fish will be eating well and will be in optimum health before reaching your aquarium.

ExpertiseTMC’s team of livestock experts and marine biologists have ahuge wealth of knowledge in commercial aquaculture feeddesign. This led TMC, in the early 1990s, to develop its ownformulations of nutritionally complete dry feeds for ourhatchery, where we were rearing up to 150,000 clownfish ofdifferent varieties to a saleable size each year.

These specially formulated diets allowed us to achieve manybreeding successes - at the end of 1997, the TMC hatchery becamethe first centre in the world to successfully breed significantnumbers of Fire Shrimps (Lysmata debelius) and in 1999 we had thesame success with Pipefishes (Doryhamphus multiannulatus), witha significant number of juveniles being raised to maturity.


Comprehensive Range of New FoodsThis background in aquaculture and feed manufacture, together with our expertise infeeding the many fish, corals and other invertebrates we import each year, led us todevelop our own range of foods, starting with Gamma Frozen Foods, then Gamma DrySeaweed both of which are market leaders. We then launched our original GammaNutraplus Complete and Reef Feeds but unfortunately we had to cease production ofthis very popular range due to difficulties with raw materials supply.

Knowing that our livestock and fish houses, as well as home aquarists, could benefit fromthe convenience of a full range of frozen, liquid and dry feeds, wecarried out a great deal of research and development to come upwith a new, improved range of liquid feeds plus a whole new dryfeeds concept, all set out in this brochure.

General Feeding Recommendations• Always supply a varied diet of dry, frozen and liquid feeds for

optimal health.

• Research your animals to find out which foods will work best for

them - speak to your local fish shop if unsure.

• Always feed as much as your fish will consume in 10 mins and

repeat throughout the day.

FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS

• Feed up to 4 times daily with a variety of Gamma frozen foods to suit the feeding requirements of all your tank’s inhabitants both small and large, carnivore and herbivore etc.

• Only remove from the freezer the amount of food that will be fed immediately.

• Feed only as much as your fish will consume in a few minutes and never overfeed.

• To ensure water quality is not adversely affected, any food which remains uneaten after 10 mins should be removed from the tank, and subsequent feeding quantities reduced if necessary.

• Do not re-freeze unused food once it has thawed!
