“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved.”–ROMANS 10:1

By Patrick Cox, Contributing Editor

When Albert Einstein couldn’t solvea problem about the structure of the universe,he played an interesting mental game. Heasked himself how God would have done it.The insights he gained unlocked the atom.

I find the same mental device useful whenpondering political problems such as Islamicimperialism. There is nothing new about thisconflict. America’s first foreign war was wagedagainst the Barbary Pirates who believed itwas their Islamic right to loot American shipsand enslave their infidel captives. The U.S.Navy was formed, in fact, to fight jihad.

Later, in the 19th century, the OttomanEmperor sent emissaries to Muslims in Indiato promote a pan-Islamic jihad against theBritish, whose democratizing influence wasviewed as a threat to the Ottoman Caliphate. While the 20th century defeat of the OttomanEmpire by the Allies helped pro-democracy,pro-Western Mustafa Kemal Ataturk win con-trol of Turkey, supporters of the caliphate inIndia succeeded in dividing Muslim Pakistanfrom predominately Hindu India.

The two nuclear countries have fought a seriesof wars since then. India has become increas-ingly Western while Pakistan created the Talibangovernment (that hosted al-Qaeda) and spreadnuclear weapons technologies through theMuslim world. Pakistan now teeters on theverge of a complete Islamist takeover followingthe assassination of former Prime MinisterBenazir Bhutto. Continued next page

ALBERT EINSTEIN AND THE ANGLICAN ARCHBISHOP continued

The other major front in the warbetween supporters of democraticand Islamic sharia legal systems hasbeen Israel, recreated along with onceChristian Lebanon when the OttomanEmpire fell. Through direct warfareagainst Christians and massive Muslimimmigration, Islam is clearly in chargeof Lebanon.

The military effort to reclaim for Islamthe land now controlled by Israelbegan on the day Israel was recognizedby the UN. Following several failedattempts, Muslims shifted to insurgentand political tactics waged largely byPalestinians — and funded by non-Palestinian Muslims.

The great failure of the West regardingIsrael’s conflict has been its refusal torecognize the root cause of the problem— the continuing effort to expand theIslamic empire. Rather than accept thewar against Israel as part of the samewar waged by Barbary Pirates, theOttoman Emperor, Filipino Moros, and al-Qaeda, much of the West has compart-mentalized Israel’s struggle. Worse, someblame all modern Islamic aggression onIsrael as if it were some fresh and tem-porary phenomenon. Some even blameAmerica’s conflicts with Muslims on ourrather undependable and half-hearted support of Israel.

Frankly, there are only a few plausibleexplanations for this astonishing blind-ness. One is the simple anti-Semitismthat has produced pogroms in Alexan-dria under Roman rule in 38 AD; the11th century Moorish massacres ofJews in Cordoba and Granada; massmurders of Jews in 12th Century Londonand York; and, of course, the 20thcentury Holocaust all across Europe.

The only other explanation is fear ofMuslim retaliation. Regardless, it exists. So I’ve been playing Einstein’s game. Iwish I could convince the world withwords to condemn endemic Muslimapartheid, racism, sexism, and violence.Obviously, I can’t. So I ask myself whatwould God do, and this is what I’vecome up with.

The Covenants of GodEight 30-minute TV Programs on Two DVDsThe covenants made by God with men and nationsthroughout the Bible are guideposts for understand-ing Scripture. This series illustrates, through testimony of expert teachers and analysis of the actual verses, the great covenants of God. We now live under the last of them, the New Covenant, which will be totally fulfilled at the time of the return of our Lord.

EDENIC COVENANT Zola explains the meaning and significance of covenants. He then deals specificallywith the Edenic Covenant made with Adam (mankind) in innocence before the fall.Zola interviews physicist Gerald Schroeder in Jerusalem regarding his theory that thebiblical six days of creation do not conflict with the scientific view of a 15 billion-year-old universe.

ADAMIC AND NOAHIC COVENANTS The Adamic Covenant is God’s covenant made with Adam after the fall that conditionsthe life of fallen men and gives the promise of a Redeemer. The Noahic Covenant is God’scovenant with Noah establishing the principle of human government. Zola interviewsDan Hendrickson, an Orthodox Jew, about the specific rules in the covenant and howthey apply to the Gentiles.

ABRAHAMIC COVENANT The Abrahamic Covenant founded the nation of Israel and confirmed, with specificadditions, the Adamic promise of redemption. Zola interviews Gary Cooperberg, anOrthodox Jew, and Chuck Cohen, a Messianic Believer, about the relevance of theAbrahamic Covenant today.

MOSAIC COVENANT This program explores the Mosaic Covenant of commandments, judgments, and ordinancesgiven to Israel: “For all have sinned.” Zola interviews Dan Hendrickson, Gary Cooperberg, and David Tel Tsur, a Messianic Believer, about the significance of the Mosaic Covenant.

LAND COVENANT Zola teaches about the Land Covenant, which secures the final restoration and conversionof Israel. He interviews former Prime Minister Shimon Peres about the peace process. Hetalks with David Bar-Illan, media advisor to then Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

DAVIDIC COVENANT The Davidic Covenant established the perpetuity of the Davidic Kingdom and furtheredGod’s plan of redemption through the future Messiah. Zola interviews Uzi Landau,Israel’s Head of Foreign Affairs, about the threat Muslim fundamentalists pose to the security of Israel.

NEW COVENANT The New Covenant rests upon the sacrifice of Christ and secures eternal blessednessfor Believers. It is absolutely unconditional. Zola interviews Rabbi Henri Noach, GaryCooperberg, and Rev. Benjamin Berger, a Messianic Believer, regarding the relationshipof Jews and Christians.

REVIEW Zola reviews the eight major covenants and explains the outworking of God’spurposes with man. A deeper understanding of God’s covenants with man enriches ourfaith and expands our knowledge of the great Creator we have the privilege of calling“Father.” To Him be the glory forever.

The simplest and most elegant solutionwould be to populate all these lands —lands that blame the only real democ-racy in the Middle East for its conflictwith Muslims—with Muslims of theirown. This, in fact, has happened.

What we have seen is night after nightof looting and arson in once peacefulDenmark following the arrest of threeMuslims who plotted to kill an artist whohad drawn a picture of Mohammed.France, which has long looked downits nose at Jews and blamed Israel forits problems with the Palestinians, is lit regularly by the fires of the FrenchIntifada. Domestic Islamic terroristbombers have attacked Spain, Russia,Britain and elsewhere. Muslim com-munities across Europe and in Canadaare demanding the same sharia lawsthe Palestinians demand.

Now, the head of the Anglican Churchhas announced his support for sharialaw in England. His is the third largestChristian communion in the world, afteronly the Roman Catholic and EasternOrthodox Churches. He is the samearchbishop Rowan Williams who splithis church by supporting homosexualordination and marriage, but now wantsAnglicans to calmly accept in theirmidst a system of sharia law that callsfor homosexuals to be stoned to death.

This is the logical consequence of theWest’s failure to recognize Israel’s moraland legal superiority to its attackers. The English, the French, the Danes, theSpanish, and others are, for the first time, waking up to their own anti-Semiticfecklessness, and it is exactly the solu-tion to the problem that I come up withwhen I ask the question, “How wouldGod do it?”

“THE TARGET IS YOU!” continued

Halley writes that the terrorists were em-boldened to begin their war by an incidentthat occurred in 1993 in Somalia: “We [theU.S.] went to that country with the purest ofintentions — to restore order, end the civilwar, and prevent the starvation of tens ofthousands of Muslim people. The Muslimwarlords were preventing international aid from being properly distributed to thestarving people.

“In an Army Ranger operation against one ofthose warlords, Mohammed Farah Aideed,a Blackhawk helicopter was shot down and18 Americans were killed in the operation...Our response was to leave Somalia.

“This was the final event that persuaded the international terrorist leaders and their

organizations— especiallyOsama Bin Laden and al-Qaeda

— that the US would not stronglyrespond militarily to terrorist

attacks...

The terrorists became “convinced that themost powerful country in the world had avery weak will. They were persuaded thatwe could be defeated in any conflict byturning American public opinion against aparticular conflict simply by killing enoughAmericans over a period of time. In effect, the real target of the terrorist attack is theAmerican people. They want to break thewill of the American people. This so-called‘Somalia Strategy’ is the basis of their current strategy [emphasis in the original].”

Gen. Halley, who commanded thousands of soldiers in Vietnam, Grenada and Iraq(Desert Storm), writes that this war is themost dangerous and difficult war in US history, for several reasons: The enemies arehard to identify and isolate; they want to killnot only soldiers, but regular citizens and theirchildren; the vast expanses of the Pacific andAtlantic Oceans that protected the US inprevious wars are not effective against aterrorist war; and the war can be expected to last two decades or more.

SHALOM FROM SANDRA LEVITT

“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:3

Synonyms for encourage-ment are: praise, support, boost, lift, and endorsement. That ishow I feel each time I speak to groupsof Believers. During more than twoweeks of recent church engagementsin Florida, I saw firsthand how muchthe Body of Christ loves Zola LevittMinistries. I am so blessed to havepeople come up to me and give theboost or lift that comes with doingthe Lord’s work.

This year, I did not have to change myclothes at a Taco Bell and I did not getlost or have any car problems. I am suresuch serendipity is due to your prayers, and for that I thank you. I got to talkabout Israel, God’s love for us, ourJewish roots, and politics. At one church,a sweet lady asked if I had thoughtabout running for president. After Istopped laughing, I thanked her andsaid I really was happy serving the Lord.

I also got to reconnect with Lennieand Varda in Cocoa, Florida. Zola hadwitnessed to them many years ago ona Greek cruise ship. Lenny, a Jewishman from England and Varda an Israeli, were living the good life on the cruiseship. We have taken tours to Greecefor almost 25 years. Zola witnessed tothem until 3:00 am. This, for someonewho had to get up at 7:00 am for thetour the next day, was quite a feat. Zola was discouraged because he didnot think they had heard anything hehad said, but he gave it his best. Yearslater, Zola was asked to speak at WholeLoaf Church in Cocoa, Florida. Thepastor mentioned that Lenny and Vardawould be the worship leaders. It wassuch a joyous reunion. It seems thatafter they had talked with Zola, theyhad gone on their way, but somethingthat Zola had said stayed with them. After they came to know the Messiah, they started writing Messianic music

and leading praise and worship in churches. They are workingon their seventh album and hope tohave it finished soon. How blessedthey have been by God.

I think we get into the “notch” mentalitythat we must save everyone we talk toabout Messiah. Then we feel that if wedo not see them get saved right away,we have failed. That is a lie of the devil.Sometimes it is just the seed that weneed to plant and leave for someoneelse to water and then someone else toharvest. The Great Commission is notabout notches; it is about eternal life. If we never say anything, then no onewill receive a seed that may germinate.Say something. Remember Lenny andVarda. You never know who you willencourage today who, as a result, willwalk in the Lord tomorrow.

Israel certainly has been the highlightof my life, and I would like it to be yoursalso. Join Jeff and me for the trip of alifetime. Our summer Deluxe Tour willdepart June 9 and return on June 19.Our Fall Tour, with four options, hasdeparture dates of October 14 and 19and return dates of October 29 andNovember 2. LOOKING BACK, SEEING AHEAD

CLASSIC ZOLABy Zola Levitt (Levitt Letter, July 1997)

Dear Friends,

I want to share an amusing incidentthat happened during the taping forour series, Champions of Faith. Weopted to film in the Wadi Kelt, an areaof the Judean desert just outside ofJerusalem on the east. This land, men-tioned in connection with Jeremiahand traversed by Abraham, Isaac andJacob, is most assuredly Jewish land. But when we made a program at near-by Bethel in a previous series, I feltobliged to carry a pistol for the firsttime in my life in order to visit an areain which God said to Jacob, “And theland which I gave Abraham and Isaac,to thee I will give it, and to thy seed afterthee will I give the land” (Genesis 35:12)

This time we hired an English-speakingsecurity guard with an appropriateweapon to keep an eye on the opendesert, but I felt relieved when I sawthe location. It was flat all around, andI was certain that no one could approachus without being seen from a longdistance away. As we settled down tomake the program, however, I wasamazed to see a married couple seem-ingly pop up from out of the sand andslowly walk by our location. Then apeddler, his arms filled with merchan-dise, also appeared out of nowhere. Ihad underestimated the Bedouin andtheir cleverness at moving throughempty sand without being seen. So Imade a purchase from the peddler inhonor of his skill.

We’ve had quite a bit of response to ourApril 1997 article about the Episcopa-lian resolutions against Israel. We wrotethat we had forwarded the article to alocal Episcopalian bishop and that wewould print the bishop’s reply, shouldhe send one.

We thought that since the April news-letter was prepared during Easter’sholy week, he may have been too busyto formulate a response before we hadto go to press. But this is the third issue

since then, and he has yet to even acknowledge our article.

I recently came across an interesting quote from singer Sinead O’Connor. She is an Israeli sympathizer (as opposed to Vanessa Redgrave, who is a Palestinian sympathizer). She sang recently, “God’s Children [theJews of Israel] should be able to sleepsafe.” Now why doesn’t the rest of theworld recognize that Israelis shouldhave that right?

Sixty-thousand people have been mur-dered by Islamic fundamentalists inAlgeria since 1992 (until 1997 whenthis was written. –Ed.). The world’s oilmarkets are untroubled, so we haven’theard of these murders; but Israel, withits handful of casualties, somehow meritsworldwide attention every day.

Our Congress has again upheld themost-favored nation status of China, inspite of the overwhelming evidence ofChina’s human rights abuses. This actionis characteristic of a government thatseeks to appease dictatorships in orderto ultimately obtain cash profits. Doingbusiness with China, supporting friendsof the Saudi Arabians (such as the Pales-tinians), or manipulating governmentsin Central America or Africa, all showthe same error: promoting evil fortreasure on earth.

How wonderful it is that we, as Christians, have been given a very different mission:promoting God’s truth on earth to obtaintreasure in Heaven. This is what we seek to do for viewers in our new series,Champions of Faith, in which we explorethe lives of the heroes of faith listed inHebrews 11.

I always tell you when it is an appro-priate time to give. The extraordinaryexpenses that are hitting us during thesummer make this an excellent time toask for your prayers and your financialsupport.

We Must DefeatIslamofascismBy Mike Huckabee

This article makes some validpoints, but it should not beinterpreted as a politicalendorsement. — Ed.

I have had the pleasure of visitingIsrael, our staunch ally, our great friendand the most exemplary democracy inthe Middle East, a total of nine times. On one of those trips, I took my then11-year-old daughter, Sarah, to YadVashem (Official Holocaust Memorial). As we faced the grimly surreal picturesfrom Dachau and Auschwitz, she con-fronted the horrors of the thousandsof bodies stacked on top of one anotherlike so much lumber —six million dead.At the end of our visit, Sarah went tothe guest book and wrote simple wordsthat I will never forget: “Why didn’tsomebody do something?”

That is all she wrote, but with thosewords, I knew that, in her own way,she “got it.”

Those who don’t understand thatthe war in Iraq is a critical part of thewar on terror, don’t get it. Those whopledge to withdraw our troops accord-ing to some politically-motivatedrationale before this war is won, don’tget it. Iraq must be stable and securewithin its bor-ders. It is not justIraq’s securitythat is at stake, but the securityof the entire re-gion and of theUnited States.

America must beeffective in theMiddle East, andwe must, ofcourse, listen—and learn, andsafeguard. Butmost of all, we

need to be resolute in our strength, military and moral. Specifically, wemust not pay any sort of tribute toterrorist states — including the honorof “listening” in some formal setting, where every splenetic utterance willbe aired worldwide. For example, whatwould the president do in the face ofsome outrageously anti-American oranti-Semitic statement: Just sit there?Get up and walk out?

I want everyone in the Middle East toknow that America is committed to itsstrategic interests in the region, includ-ing a safe and secure Israel.

If the annihilation of six million Jewstaught us anything, it is that appease-ment doesn’t work; it just results in thedeaths of innocents and makes the jobof eradicating evil all the more difficult.I share Israel’s concern about anaggressive unchecked Iran. And I shareIsrael’s determination that Iran will notbecome a nuclear power.

Before there can be true peace, theremust be the basic recognition of Israel’sright to exist and an end to anti-Semiticand anti-Israel lies and propaganda.

Together, we must prevent nuclearproliferation and defeat Islamofascism.Together, we must be the people whoconfront and overcome evil. We mustbe the people who take action now, sothat future generations of Sarahs don’tlook back and ask “Why didn’t some-body do something?”

My paternal grandfatherused to say, “Alwaysremember, you’re ofJewish blood” and “Neverforget, we are Jewish.”These and other suchadmonitions didn’t make sense to meat the time.

I was born to Ernest and Pearl Martinezin Denver, CO. My mother’s fatherpastored an Assembly of God churchfor about 50 years. He started severalmissions around Colorado and Utahand was heavily persecuted by theMormons and unbelievers. Conse-quently, what I knew of religion waswhat I saw through my mother’s sideof the family.

As I began to make decisions for myself,I left the Church for many years anddidn’t live for the Lord. When my father’sdad passed away, I was 27 years oldand still looking for my identity in theMessiah. Not long after the funeral,my dad went and cleaned out mygrandfather’s place and brought backsome of mygrandfather’spersonal belong-ings. Amongthem was a kippah (skullcap)and some otherJewish items. That moment iswhen I realizedthat we werereally Jewish, and I began toask many ques-tions of familymembers.

I learned that my father’s side is Ashken-azi and that one of his family membershad moved his family to Spain fromItaly and changed their last name toMartinez. From there, they moved tonorthern New Mexico, where there is aheavy presence of Sephardic Jews, knownas Anusim. Anusim are Jews that wereexpelled from Spain and came to theAmericas. During the Spanish Inqui-sition, most of them were persecuteduntil they either converted or weremurdered. I learned that my mother’sside of the family also comes fromthis line of Anusim. It is well knownthat a lot of the Hispanic communityhas Jewish roots but don’t know thisbecause their identity has been lostthrough the generations. My great-grandparents from both sides had con-verted to Christianity. My dad’s side ofthe family, however, never quit identi-fying with their Jewish roots.

I now live in Dallas, and I’m a member ofBaruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue.I am a Messianic Jew with a ferventdesire to see my Jewish brethren cometo know Yeshua as Lord, Master andSavior. Equally, my passion is to helpthe Christian community realize andrecognize their roots are in Judaismand help bring the two, Jew and Gentile, together as the one new man.

imminent. Instead of waiting until“after the fact” to talk about it, Let’spull out the Bible and underscore theprescient predictions in advance— inthe interest of making disciples andnot just making points.

Israel’s sixtieth birthday is right aroundthe corner. Many will not be singing“Happy Birthday To You” to the Jews, for many, as you know, prefer our“dearth”—that is Jewish scarcity, want, deficiency, inadequacy, and death. We,by contrast, prefer Jewish “hearth”—that is a home land. Happily, God prefersIsrael’s continuance, as do you— indi-viduals with a love for Jews and forwhat Zola Levitt Ministries represents.

Mindful of our comparable values, Ihope you won’t mind me asking if you’llplease help us present what you and Irepresent. I am currently in Israel withSandra and the TV crew, expendingmonies for the aforementioned programin advance of the support’s arrival. Itmight seem a bit imprudent, but the“clock is ticking.” We feel an urgencyto be here and about the Father’sbusiness of telling this story.

If the Lord doesn’t impress it upon you, feel free to disregard the request. If, withme, however, you believe that this storyneeds telling, please “lay up treasuresin Heaven” by laying down an earthlyoffering. In any case, the program willcome to you, much as our magazinecomes to the world simply for the asking.

Shalom,

“DeSeifering:” journ-alistic play on the term “decipher.” It comes from “cipher,” a word borrowed from the Arabic (sifr) and devel-oped in the English language to denote“succeeding in understanding, inter-preting and identifying.” The “catchy”title, speaks to my interest in offeringcommentary on the news. Unlikemany contemporary commentators, I am interested in exploring how thenews is colored by prophecy-relatedbiblical views, and how it is accentu-ated by long-neglected Jewish hues.Your interest in our ministry, in likemanner, probably evolves out of yourinterest in Jews, Israel, Bible prophecy, authentic biblical Christianity andmore.

Believing there to be merit in prophecy-related stories, I am thrilled to complementthis year’s Messianic Jewish TV seriesentitled—In the Footsteps of the RabbiFrom Tarsus—with an upcoming seriesentitled—Ezekiel and the Middle East‘Piece’ Process.

Our founder, Zola Levitt, was particu-larly interested in Ezekiel. The USSR’ssupport for Arab nation-states hell-bent on little Israel’s demise was well-known in his heyday. Little-known, bycontrast, was how the Old Testamentprophet Ezekiel explicitly predictedIsrael’s coming back to life as a nationin the “last days,” and his noting thata northern superpower would alignwith an empire from the Euphratesregion and draw regional powers intoa conflict with the newly reconstitutedJewish homeland. It’s all clearly pre-dicted in the Bible.

It seems that Russia, directly to thenorth of Israel, is exerting andextending its power again, much asIranian and Chinese forces, to the eastof Israel, are making their presence andintentions known. Add their intereststo the incendiary admixture of pettyand pernicious Islamic kingdoms surrounding Israel gearing up for herdemise, and an explosion seems

BIBLE STUDY WITH JEFF SEIF

“ASK THE PROFESSOR”By Dr. Jeffrey L. Seif

Ancient peoples believed in an afterlife.Correct? What do people think Jesus didafter His life ended— between the time Hewas crucified and the time He rose onEaster Sunday?

GREAT QUESTIONS.

Beyond the pale of direct biblical influence, ancient Mediterranean peoples developed aconcept of the afterlife. What was known as Sheol to the Hebrews went by Hadesto Greeks and Inferi to Romans. All con-strued there to be a cavity under the earth, where the deceased descended.

In Virgil’s Aeneid, the dead were led byHermes to the underworld. There they wereunderstood to have been met by a boatmannamed Charon who took them across theriver Styx to face judgment. Faithless sortswere construed as taken to the left, to dark“Tartarus” for punishment; the pious, bycontrast, went to the right, and to brightfields, and were depicted as enjoyingdelightful bliss and felicity.

Though an assessment of primitive mythol-ogies may be interesting, important for ourpurposes is the fact that the Hebrew andGreek Bibles speak specifically of judgment, resurrection and afterlife.

In Daniel 12:2, readers are told that thosewho “sleep in the dust of the earth shallawake, some to everlasting life and [some]to shame and everlasting contempt.” Priorto Jesus’ teaching on the resurrection,Martha went on record noting of her deceasedbrother Lazarus (John 11:1,14), saying: “Iknow he will rise again in the resurrectionat the last day” (v. 24). Both texts attest toa belief in an afterlife and resurrection.

In 2 Peter 2:4, Peter went on record speak-ing of God not “sparing angels” and of theirbeing “cast down to hell”…. In the process,we’re told that they were “delivered intochains, to be reserved for judgment.” Inter-estingly, what is rendered in the NKJV as“cast down to hell,” is really rendered “castdown to Tartarus” in the Greek. This is notdesigned to lend credence to the aforemen-tioned Greek mythology: It simply evidencesthat Peter used the vocabulary of the day to

impress his point upon the mind’s eyes of hisreaders, that there was a judgment and lifeeternal on the other side of the grave.

As for where Jesus went after His execution,in 1 Peter 3:19 the Apostle spoke of theMessiah’s having “preached to the spirits inprison” who were consigned to the abyss “inthe days of Noah” (v. 20). While some believethat He preached a salvation message toimprisoned humans, in Hell, it seems moreprudent to combine 1 Peter 3:19 and 2 Peter2:4 and, by so doing, consider that he wasproclaiming His triumph over fallen angels (asper Colossians 2:15) and was not witnessingto departed humans in the classical sense.

Based on a correct understanding of a varietyof New Testament texts, the old Roman formof the “Apostles’ Creed” noted that Jesus was“crucified under Pontius Pilate and that Hewas buried,” subsequent to which, on “thethird day He rose from the dead.” In the laterreceived form, after noting that Jesus was“buried,” in 570AD, Venantius Fortunatusinserted: “He descended into Hell [Hades],”which has been affixed to the “Creed” eversince. That He did so is amply attested in theprevious passages noted.

In sum, from the Bible, we gather the follow-ing: There is an afterlife, and Jesus Himselfmade proclamations in the underworldbetween His execution and resurrection.

What Jesus did seems rather consistent; whatwe do, however, is a bit more variable. Themillion dollar question— one I’ll pose in turn— is as follows: What will we do mindful ofthe resurrection of Yeshua/Jesus from thedead? A resurrected Messiah is said to haveappeared to His followers in Mark 16:15 andsaid “Go into all the world and preach theGospel to every creature.” By way of response,Mark then concluded with the following obser-vation: “and they went out and preachedeverywhere, the Lord working with them andconfirming the Word through the accompany-ing signs. Amen” (v. 20). Let’s make surethat we do that!

and rocket attacks against Israel. Sowhy then do these same Westernnations rush to condemn Israel fordeciding to cut back by only a smallpercentage the electricity that it providesto the Gaza Strip? No country has theobligation to provide aid and comfortto a combatant enemy engaged inconstant attacks against its civilianpopulation, clearly in violation ofinternational law.

Finally, we have the Archbishop ofCanterbury, Rowan Williams, whoadvocated that certain parts of Islamiclaw, called sharia law, be integratedwithin the British legal system. To clar-ify, the head of the Church of England, spiritual leader of millions of Anglicansworldwide, is proposing that Islamiclaw supersede English law in certaincircumstances. Unbelievable! Williamssaid that such a move is “unavoidable”in the future, so the UK should essen-tially just go ahead and capitulate now.

Franco Frattini, the European Commis-sioner for Justice, Freedom and Security, quoted numbers in February from various EU reports stating that half ofall anti-Semitic incidents in Europe areconnected to radical Islam. The ministeralso said that Europe is trying torespond to anti-Semitism throughmore education.

To this end, schools across the UK willnow send up to 4,000 high school students each year to the Auschwitzcamp in Poland, followed by a series ofseminars, in order to boost Holocaustunderstanding, education, and aware-ness. The program is sponsored by theHolocaust Educational Trust, and willcost some three million dollars peryear. The question that the British needto ask themselves: Is three million dol-lars per year enough to turn the tideagainst the growing anti-Semitic attacksand attitudes in the UK?

What’s Up With The UK?By Will King, www.imagesofisrael.com

The recent conduct of some Britishgovernment, church, and academicleaders ranges from anti-Semitic, toanti-Israel, to just plain dumb. Let’sexamine a few examples.

First, the academic community in theUK has repeatedly put forward meas-ures to boycott Israeli professors solong as Israel continues to perpetratethe “occupation” and “war crimes”against the Palestinians. Many of thesemeasures have failed, and the ones thatdid pass have been short-lived. How-ever, for a group of people that aresupposed to be well educated, thesecontinued boycott resolutions by professors, teachers’ unions, and aca-demic institutions seem to indicatethat they just don’t get it.

“Glorious and honorable” acts

Just recently, the Imperial College inLondon was to sponsor an event enti-tled simply “Israel-Palestine.” However, the Israeli participant in the discussions,Prof. David Newman from Ben GurionUniversity, withdrew after making adisturbing discovery. Also to be includedon the same debate panel was AzzamTamimi, who in a 2004 interview withthe BBC, called suicide bombings,“glorious and honorable” acts. Freespeech has a place in all civilized cul-tures, and especially within academiccircles, but when it supports violenceand incitement to hatred, such speechhas certainly crossed the line.

Secondly, we have the British govern-ment condemning Israel for reducingpower to the Gaza Strip. Almost all theWestern nations say that they recog-nize not only Israel’s right to exist, butalso its right to protect its citizens.Almost all the Western nations con-demn Palestinian suicide bombings

WISE AS A SERPENT

come in handy for speaking engage-ments, but they’re more labor intensiveand less versatile than paying-as-we-go.Ministry donors who’ve tried to selltheir timeshares tell us that they paid$500 in up-front fees to listing servicesto no avail. A consumer who attemptsto resell his unit can’t compete veryeffectively against finely tuned market-ing machines that churn out massmailings and offer “free” prizes.

Once this ministry has more timesharesthan we can use, we will market themon eBay. Donors will be welcome to30% of the net proceeds, plus a receiptfor the other 70%, (which will count asa donation). Unfortunately, the unitsthat sell new for $10,000 to $15,000 mayyield only $2,000 -$3,000 on eBay.

Those who want to rent a timeshare con-do a la carte might visit www.rci.comor www.intervalworld.com. But hear yethis: Never sit still for a sales pitch (orwhat they call a “survey” or “question-naire,” during which the timesharesalesmen (read: “wolves”) supposedlyjust want your opinion about a resort.Just say no to offers of a $50 bill, dinnercertificates or other prizes. Say no tothe bait, avoid the stress and save yourtime. Besides, hotel and motel roomsare typically quite sufficient.

Timeshares: JustSay “No!”By Mark Levitt

Christian stewardship, a major topicthroughout the Bible, inspired thisbimonthly “Wise As a Serpent” seriesof articles (Matthew 10:16), whichbegan in the February 2007 LevittLetter. (Our ministry’s archive of LevittLetters at www.levitt.com dates backto June 1995.)

The objective of this installment is topersuade you to steer clear of salespitches to buy timeshares. The “free”prizes used as bait can be disappoint-ing, and the sales presentations oftenbecome high pressure. Too manytimeshare owners discover too late thatthey overpaid for a share of ownershipthat is all but impossible to resell —if not virtually worthless.

A timeshare allows an individual toown a portion of vacation property—typically a one-week stay per year in acondominium. For example, a condo-minium that normally sells for $100,000to a single buyer is divided into 52 one-week slices or “shares.” If the owner ofeach week pays $10,000, that condogenerates $520,000 of revenue—morethan five times its conventional value! In addition, if each of the 52 owners pays$500 per year for maintenance, thatunit generates $26,000 in annual main-tenance fees —a whole lot of expensejust for a 900-square-foot condo.

It is a secret of the timeshare industrythat vacationers who “pay-as-they-go”can rent timeshare weeks a la cartewithout getting mired in the complex-ities of ownership, the obligations ofmaintenance fees and the chaos ofbanking or exchanging weeks. To putit another way, if you have money inthe bank (or a credit card in hand), youcan be more flexible in your vacationplanning than if you’ve tied funds upin a timeshare contract.

This ministry has accepted contribu-tions of timeshares. The units have

“Three Little Pigs”– or Puppieswww.WorldNetDaily.com

Laughter is the only rational responseto this story. —Ed.

Fearing Muslims would be offended,a story based on The Three Little Pigswas rejected by a government-fundedBritish agency from consideration foran annual award.

Judges for the national school honorsaid the digital book retelling theclassic tale is unacceptable because“the use of pigs raises cultural issues,”the BBC reported.

The book, titled The Three Little CowboyBuilders, also was deemed offensiveto builders.

Anne Curtis, creative director for thebook, told the BBC the idea thatincluding pigs in the story would beconsidered bigoted is “like a slap inthe face.”

Islamic teaching regards pigs as un-clean and forbids eating pork. But aschool in England last year attempt-ing to be politically correct towardMuslims ended up offending themeven more when it changed the nameof its play based on a rendition of TheThree Little Pigs.

The school decided to call it The ThreeLittle Puppies instead. But Islamicleaders condemned the move as mis-guided and said such decisions wereturning Muslims into “misfits” insociety.

The Three Little Cowboy Buildersalready won Britain’s EducationResource award. But judges for theBett award said they had “concernsabout the Asian community, and theuse of pigs raises cultural issues,” theBBC said. They also feared the storymight “alienate” builders.

A member of a committee that decidedlast year to modify a play based on TheThree Little Pigs explained the decisionthis way: “We have to be sensitive if wewant to be multicultural. It was felt itwould be more responsible not to useThe Three Little Pigs. We feared thatsome Muslim children wouldn’t singalong to the words about pigs.”

But there was no complaint promptingthe decision, and Sheik Ibrahim Mograof the Muslim Council of Britain calledit “bizarre.”

“The vast majority of Muslims have noproblem whatsoever with The ThreeLittle Pigs, he told the London DailyMail at the time. “It’s always been thetraditional way of telling the story, andI don’t see why that should be changed.”

Mogra acknowledged Muslims are forbidden to eat pork, “but there is noprohibition about reading storiesabout pigs.”

“Every time we get these stories, Muslimsare seen more and more as misfits. Wehave to accept there’s a predominantculture here.”

Mainline ChurchesTurn On IsraelBy Nathan Guttman, www.forward.com

Tensions are re-emerging betweenJewish organizations and some main-line Protestant churches in the wakeof a renewed drive for churches todivest from companies doing businesswith Israel.

The United Methodist Church openeddiscussions recently on a resolutioncalling for divestment from Israel. Thedivestment resolution comes onlymonths after the publication of achurch-sponsored report referring tothe creation of the State of Israel asthe “original sin.”

Relations with the Presbyterian Church(USA) are also strained, followingremarks by church officials criticizingIsrael because of the Gaza closure. Arecent study by an affiliate of the Pres-byterian Church called on AmericanJews to “get a life” instead of focusingon defending Israeli policies.

“This reflects a very disturbing trendin these churches,” said Ethan Felson, assistant executive director of theJewish Council for Public Affairs. “Thesedevelopments are a result of work ofseveral very wicked forces at play inthe church.”

“The United Methodist Church holds

$141 million of pension funds in com-panies that sustain the occupation,”said Susan Hoder, a member of thechurch’s Interfaith Peace Initiative.“This has to stop. We have to cut ourties to the occupation.” With 11 millionmembers, The United Methodist Churchis the largest mainline Protestant de-nomination in the U.S. The upcominggeneral conference, the church’s mainforum for making policy decisions, willfirst discuss the divestment resolutionin a subcommittee. Afterward, the panel’srecommendations will be put to a gen-eral vote to make them official policy.

MOTION 666 Associated Press

Some in the House of Commons inLondon, England took note of the significance: A motion calling to dises-tablish the Church of England was listed with the well-known number ofthe antiChrist: the number 666.

The motion would do away with thelink between Church and State, whichis formally represented in that QueenElizabeth II is both the head of state aswell as the head of the Church ofEngland.

Bob Russell, a Liberal Democrat MP,remarked on the incredible nature ofthis happening by chance. Althoughsome see it as uncanny, this motion bybackbenchers has little chance of beingdebated in Parliament.

Our Hands Are Stained with Blood book“And they’ll know we are Christians by our love.”Contrary to the sweet sentiment of that ever-popularBible hymn, this book documents with unrelentingintensity the prolific anti-Semitism at the hands ofthe “Church.” From the first “Christian” persecutionsof the Jews in the fourth century to the unspeakablehorrors of the Holocaust, from Israel-bashing intoday’s press to anti-Semitism in today’s pulpits, this shocking and painful book is a sure cure forsomeone who imagines that persecution of God’sChosen is a hoax. Authored by Dr. Michael Brown,Dean of the Messiah Biblical Institute and the Grad-uate School of Theology in Maryland, this is a storyevery Christian must know. Available on page 31.

UNTAINTED HUMAN AID

Saving GazanHeartswww.IsraelInsider.com

Despite the closure of Gaza and theviolence raging on its borders, a smallhospital in Israel — just beyond rocketrange—offers a ray of hope for a hand-ful of seriously ill Gazans, courtesy ofIsraeli physicians. “This child wouldhave died without surgery,” said Dr.Alona Raucher-Sternfeld, as she simultaneously looked at the smallPalestinian baby, Jamal, and theheart monitor.

Six-month-old Jamal came with hisgrandmother, Haifa, from the Dir al-Balah refugee camp in the Gaza Stripto get a checkup at the Wolfson MedicalCenter in Holon, south of Tel Aviv.Jamal suffered from two heart defects, and had to be operated on at the ageof two months. His tiny size furthercomplicated the surgery, but it wasultimately successful, the doctor said.“When he came here, he was blue. Itwas an emergency,” Raucher-Sternfeldsaid.

The surgery, hospital stay and logisticsin bringing him out of Gaza were

coordinated and partially funded by Save a Child’s Heart, an Israelihumanitarian organization, withstrong American Jewish backing andsome European Union donations. In2007, 128 Palestinian children from theWest Bank and Gaza, all suffering fromheart conditions, were treated by theprogram and the hospital.

Getting the child out of Gaza thesedays is difficult. Jamal’s 24-year-oldmother is too young to be allowedout, according to Israeli security regu-lations, so the grandmother was sentas an escort instead. Col. Nir Press, head of the Israeli coordination andliaison administration in Gazarecently said Israel requires rigidsecurity rules, as Palestinian terroristshave, in the past, taken advantage ofpermits issued for medical reasons tocarry out bombings. In 2004, for exam-ple, four Israeli soldiers at the Erezcrossing were killed when a Palestinianpatient blew herself up inside the terminal.

Volunteers from Save a Child’s Heartstressed the apolitical nature of theirprogram. “If there’s an Israeli child anda Palestinian child, whoever is in amore dire condition will get treatmentfirst,” said a hospital nurse.

Justice The Saudi WayBy Abdullah Shihri, Associated Press

Families of several imprisoned pro-reform activists in Saudi Arabia have drafted a letter toKing Abdullah asking him to either release their loved ones, jailed for over a year withoutcharges, or bring them to trial.

The draft, made available to the Associated Press, reminded Abdullah of his pledge onbecoming king in 2005 to set free all “prisoners of conscience” and also of the kingdom’sinternational commitment to abide by universal human rights. The letter lists 11 activists—including legal experts, human rights advocates, lawyers and university professors — andwas signed by 16 petitioners, mostly relatives or friends of the detained.

The families’ move is a bold one in a country which leading watchdog groups say has atainted human rights record, including documented cases of flogging and torture in custody, oppression of government criticism and discrimination of women and minority groups.

A researcher on Saudi Arabia at the New York-based Human Rights Watch, Christoph Wilcke, said the “letter reflects the frustration of people who don’t know why their loved ones areheld. But it also shows lack of due process that authorities in Saudi Arabia get away withand for which no one holds them accountable,” Wilcke told the Associated Press.

The letter said the detainees were rounded-up “for promoting reform” and “defending otherprisoners of conscience.” It also criticized the stifling of freedom of expression in thekingdom, its crackdown on Internet bloggers and censorship of the press.

“The forcible arrests and violations (of human rights) have targeted a trend of peacefulresistance that only represents the true conscience of this nation,” it read, describing the pro-reform activists as a “safety valve which protects this country from violence and aggression.”

Right Sacrifices By John J. Parsons

HebrewLesson

Right SacrificesThe Hebrew word for a sacrificial offering is korban, a word that comes from korav meaningto “draw near,” specifically, to draw near to God. Under the Levitical system of worship in theTabernacle/Temple, offerings (korbanot) were provided as a means to bring someone who wasaway from God near to Him again.

There are several types of korbanot listed in the Torah. Zevachim were various animal sacrificesslaughtered upon the mizbeach (altar), a word that comes from the same root (Zayin-Vet-Chet).Metaphorically, sacrifices can be called righteous (zivchei tzedek) or wicked (zivchei resha).

Right sacrifices imply something more than the scrupulous performance of religious rituals, however. King David understood that they were the expression of — not the means to —genuine trust in the Lord (bittachon). Only when ritual is grounded in trust are we able toexperience the blessing of drawing near to God in the truth.

Such “drawing near” does not happen in a vacuum of self-centered piety, however. Reconcili-ation with God is invariably connected with how we treat others. We cannot offer “our gift uponthe altar” if we understand that someone is hurting because of our lovelessness (Matt. 5:23-24).

Many of us are more comfortable with the idea of offering a sacrifice than extending genuinelove and mercy to others, especially to those who have offended us or whom we regard asour enemies. It is much easier to participate in a sacrificial “system” than it is to engage in thearduous task of authentic self-examination and confession. Indeed, if we are not careful, suchan approach can be used as a pretext for enabling callous indifference or even systematicmalice toward others.

When the Pharisees objected to his practice of extending grace to sinners (i.e., the rituallyunclean), Jesus twice quoted from Hosea 6:6: “For I desire love (chesed) and not sacrifice(zevach), and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings” (Matt. 9:13, 12:7). To obeyGod is better than sacrifice (1 Sam. 15:22), and without the proper heart attitude of love, religious expression — even if technically “correct” — is nothing but a sham. Living a mercifullife trumps your preferred theological ideologies.

The work of love (chesed) reveals itself by demonstrating tzedek (justice, righteousness) inyour life. The Scriptures command: Tzedek, tzedek tirdof: “justice, justice you shall pursue”(Deut.16:20). Jesus’ sacrifice for our sin is the sacrifice of the just for the unjust, the ultimate expression of love for mankind. Loving others means promoting their welfareand good, even if they are unjust themselves. When we truly trust in the Lord we become korban chai, a living sacrifice, offered to God (Rom. 12:1).

were considered, at trial, to be crimesin North America. I also described anetwork of Muslim taxi drivers in theUK which, according to a governmentreport, tracks and returns Muslim girlsand women who are in flight from abuseand from being honor murdered. I didnot indict all Muslim taxi drivers. Indeed,I was careful to write that many Muslimtaxi drivers are also polite and courteousand many non-Muslim drivers are not.

It wasn’t enough. The politically correctpolice turned out, not in droves, butwith great passion. They accused me ofsaying things that I had not said. Theywere afraid that “people” would use mywords to restrict Muslim immigration, profile or imprison Muslims, bar Muslimsfrom working as taxi drivers, etc.

But I did not write any of this nor do Ithink it.

Here’s what you must remember whenyou fear that your most practical ideasin our culture and terror war might bebranded “racist”: Muslims and peopleof color are also being victimized byIslamist suicide killers and tyrants. It isMuslims who suffer most from Islamicgender apartheid.

Thus, by telling the truth about variouselements of Islam, we are not onlydefending our own civilization, but weare empowering the Muslim reformerswho want to help modernize anddemocratize Islam— and we are there-fore coming to the aid of the millionsof Muslims in the Islamic world who arevictims of Islamic radicalism.

The American Electionand Islam By Phyllis CheslerPajamasMedia.com/xpress/PhyllisChesler

This coming American election is notjust about universal health care —it is also about the survival of the freeworld as we have come to know it. Andtherefore, it is also about Islam.

Do our candidates understand thatwe are really at war and that we cannottalk our way out of it? That charm, even of the spellbinding variety, is notenough, nor can we “take a meeting,”Hollywood-style, or Tammany-Hallstyle, to set things right. Nor is simple,old-fashioned heroics the answer tothe kind of Orwellian propagandaand guerilla-terrorism that Americaand our allies will continue to con-front in the 21st century.

Does our next president understandthat we have to fight with everythingwe have and risk losing it all in orderto hold onto any of it?

Certain burning issues require immediate, not gradual solutions. Our dependence on Arab oil (a tragicaddiction) must end. Alternate sourcesof energy must be found in a veryshort period of time. (Watch the Israelielectric car project.)

Just recently, I wrote about Muslim taxidrivers whose private religious beliefsabout wine, pork, and dogs led tobehaviors towards passengers which

INSANE TERROR FUNDING

Tax Dollars forTerroristsBy Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld and Alyssa A. Lappenwww.FrontPageMagazine.com

Present day politicians continue theinsane practice of funding both sidesof a war. –Ed.

The Bush Administration’s search forpartners to promote “peace” and“democracy” within the PalestinianAuthority (PA) resembles Lord CharlesBowen’s “blind man in a dark roomlooking for a black hat— which isn’tthere.”

For the first time, the Bush Adminis-tration plans to give $150 million incash directly to the PalestinianAuthority (PA) Treasury, as part of a$496.5 million “aid” package, including$410 million for development programs. This added to the $86.5 million for CIA“security training,” which Congressauthorized in April 2007.

The CIA has apparently assumed thePalestinian terrorist-training role previously held by the former SovietUnion. CIA Palestinian training suc-cess is best described by a member ofthe PA Chairman’s own security unit,Force 17 officer Abu Yusef: “Theoperations of the Palestinian resistancewould [not] have been so successfuland “would not have killed more than1,000 Israelis since 2000, and defeatedthe Israelis in Gaza without [Americanmilitary] trainings,” he boasted inAugust 2007.

Since the Oslo Accords, the PA receivedsome $14 billion to $20 billion ininternational aid, according to a 2007Funding for Peace Coalition (FPC)report to the British Parliament. EachPalestinian received $4,000 to $8,000per year. In comparison, the U.S.Agency for International Development(USAID), provided $1 billion in hu-manitarian aid for 2.5 million Darfurrefugees from 2003 to 2006 — only

$100 per person annually.

The PA received “the highest per capitaaid transfer in the history of foreign aidanywhere,” according to former WorldBank country director for Gaza and theWest Bank, Nigel Roberts. Not surpris-ingly, hundreds of thousands of Gazansspent more than $300 million in lessthan a two week shopping spree, afterHamas blew up the border with Egypt.Yet, the Palestinian economy is in ruins.

Yet President George W. Bush in hisJanuary 28, 2008 State of the UnionAddress, reassured the Palestinians that“America will do, and I will do, every-thing we can to help them achieve…aPalestinian state by the end of this year.”

U.S.-favored PA President MahmoudAbbas, who in 1957 with Yasser Arafatco-founded the al Fatah terrorist group, assumed the role of his predecessor.Abbas remains committed to the organ-ization’s raison d’etre — destroyingIsrael and expelling the Jewish peoplefrom the region.

It is time for President Bush to removehis blinders and stop donating U.S.-taxpayer funds to this murderous part-nership. It is also time for Congress todemand a proper monitoring programto oversee the legitimate use of U.S. aidto the Palestinians.

Russia & Prophecy

Dear Jeffrey:

I am interested in your updated enhancement of Zola’s classic on Russia andprophecy. Is it true that Mr. Putin is scheming to gain control of the Arab worldand that he is quietly buying up utility companies all across Europe? How willthis impact Israel? Thank you for keeping me on your mailing list.

Your Friend in Yeshua,

B.W.

Dear BW:

First, thank you for remaining on the mailing list. In a world where so many“experts” are given to extolling how informed they are, I want you to know that,in truth, I am not yet sure how to answer you. I plan for the TV series to under-score what the Scriptures say. I don’t have all the answers to contemporaryapplications. However, I am hoping that viewers will experience the series andthen contact us saying: “Yeah, this is how this fits here; that is how this fitsthere.” Like you, I am very, very concerned by Putin’s and Russia’s ambitionsand by their involvement in supplying nuclear materials to the Islamic world.

—Yours, Jeff

Judging & Touching

Dear Staff:I believe we play right into the plans of the enemy, to his delight I know, whenwe judge other ministries that preach prosperity in Christ Jesus… It is our Lord’sdesire that we as a body be in unity in His love. It is His desire that we do notjudge… [and] that we “touch not God’s anointed.” I thank the Lord for ZolaLevitt Ministries…. —B.A.G.

Dear B. A. G.:As for “judging,” it is the US government that is raising questionsabout the propriety of ministers with multi-multi-million dollarsalaries and lavish lifestyles. The government grants non-profit, tax-exempt status to religious groups, and, from their perspective, itindeed seems that some “prosperity preachers” are profiting handsomely fromthe non-profit arrangement. I don’t fear that I am supporting the devil’s biddingby taking issue with this, nor do I think that one can’t dare raise reasonablequestions on the basis of daring to “touch God’s anointed.” In any case, on thebasis of the doctrine that all people are “innocent until proven guilty,” let’ssee what becomes of the process. — Jeff

About the Apostasy

Dear Jeff:

You know we love you… and support theJews through several organizations. I evenwrote President Bush and Secretary Ricetwice about how wrong they are in press-ing Israel to give up more land. They didn’ttake my advice.

Perhaps it’s because my spirit grieves me about the apostasy in the UnitedMethodist Church, and the falling away of many, that I was disturbed by your negative attitude toward the church….

Actually, the General Conference of the Methodist Church voted “No!” to somepractices that the bishops soon adopted.

Our son, a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary and now a pastor, is true toGod’s Word, as are many. But many are not…

In Christ’s Love, — M.W.

Greetings M.W.:Congratulations on your son’s noble calling. I am sure you are proud of him;Asbury is a fine institution. I took my master’s and doctorate from a Methodistseminary (SMU), but like you, I believe that there is “apostasy” within theChurch. I also believe there are Bible-believing elements within the Church. With you, my heart and prayers are that the Bible Believers will prevail. — Jeff

Jets for ZLM?

Jeffrey and Sandra:

In the recent article entitled, Jets for Jesus, Senator Grassley is quoted as saying:“Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, not a Rolls Royce”… My reply to theSenator is this: In Jesus’ day a donkey was the Rolls Royce mode of travel. And Imight add, Jesus specified one that had never been ridden before. He wanted onebrand new, right off the showroom floor… God wants us to live in abundance! Iactively support two of the six televangelists under investigation (in addition toZLM). I’m glad they both have jets to do the work of God. I’m glad they travel instyle, comfort and speed. I firmly believe God approves as well. Besides that, Ithink ZLM should have a ministry jet as well.

P.

Dear P.Having reflected on your letter, let me adjust my position with the followingannouncement: “Attention all airplane owners. Please donate your plane toZola Levitt Ministries. We’ll take small corporate jets, larger commercial airlinersand even retired 747s. (Why not!?) If any government ministers are reading, know that we’ll take your fighter planes, Apache helicopters, anything andeverything. Along with sending in the clear titles, please include a picture anddescription along with the maintenance report. I’ll need them when I turnaround and put an ad in the newspaper to sell them, so I can pay for our TVproduction costs, staggering airtime expenses and the like. As for fighterplanes, instead of selling them, I’ll send them to Israel.”

— Jeff

Please Stay Committed

Dear ZLM:

I love the fact that your ministry seeksto enlighten the Jewish people to theidentity of the Messiah Jesus (Yeshua).I also like the fact that the teaching isdone in such a way that anyone (Jew or Gentile) can see their need for Hisforgiveness. It appears that we aretruly living in what the Bible calls the“last days” and are nearing the returnof Jesus. Please stay committed and zealous for Him, and also pray that I do so as well. As the Apostle Paul said,“I pray that you faint not.” Thank youfor all your hard work, and may ourLord bless you.

Shalom!

Time for Zola!

“Ohh! It’s time for Zola!!!”

Every Friday at 5 p.m., I am right here in front of the TV. It’s kind of part of my job here at Daystar, but BOY I sure do love this show!!

Dr. Seif has been a great addition, and it has been great to get to know himthrough the Levitt Letter. Mrs. Sandra is a wonderful teacher and beautifulwoman, her heart for her blinded brethren is apparent and touching. Theydo a great job teaching and illuminating the Texts from a Jewish perspective, which is so critical for those of us grafted in.

What spurred me to write is the Rabbi from Tarsus series you’re in right now.The production value is incredible, and I am learning so much. I am currentlyreading Acts before bedtime, and it’s layering in my heart and mind. Great, greatstuff!!! Your production team should be congratulated and it’s obvious to methat the Lord is all over what you’re doing there.

May the Lord richly bless your ministry,S.

TIME FOR ACTION!

Stone Cold FeministsBy David Horowitz, Robert Spencer andJanet Levy, www.frontpagemagazine.com

Two sisters —identified only as Zohrehand Azar— have been convicted ofadultery in Iran.

They have now been sentenced to bestoned to death.

Adultery is a crime punishable bydeath in the Islamic Republic of Iran,in accordance with the canons ofIslamic sharia law. The IranianSupreme Court has upheld the stoning sentence.

Zohreh and Azar have already received99 lashes for “illegal relations.” Yetthey were tried again for the samecrime, and convicted of adultery onthe evidence of videotape that showedthem in the presence of other menwhile their husbands were absent. Thevideo does not show either of themengaging in any sexual activity.

Their crime is nonexistent, their trialsa miscarriage of justice, and theirsentencing a barbarity.

All those who believe in human rightsand human dignity should protestagainst this sentence.

We call upon feminists to join us inprotesting this outrage. We continue tobe stunned but not surprised by thesilence of these feminists who havequestioned the authenticity of ourconcern for Muslim women oppressedby the laws of Islam.

The feminists who recently complainedthat the media have falsely representedthem as indifferent to the plight ofMuslim women have so far been con-spicuously indifferent to the plight ofZohreh and Azar. So far American feminists have failed to support theirMuslim sisters. We call on them to joinus in doing so now.

Startled At Starbucks By Sonia Verma, www.timesonline.co.uk

A 37-year-old American businesswoman and married mother of three is seeking justice aftershe was thrown in jail by Saudi Arabia’s religious police for sitting with a male colleague ata Starbucks coffee shop in Riyadh.

Her ordeal began with a routine visit to the new Riyadh offices of her finance company, where she is a managing partner. The electricity temporarily cut out, so Yara and hercolleagues — who are all men— went to a nearby Starbucks to use its wireless internet.

“Some men came up to us with very long beards and white dresses. They asked ‘Why areyou here together?,’ I explained about the power being out in our office. They got very angry and told me what I was doing was a great sin,” recalled Yara.

The men were from Saudi Arabia's Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, a police force of several thousand men charged with enforcing dress codes, sex segregation and the observance of prayers.

Yara once believed that life in Saudi Arabia was becoming more liberal. But she was inter-rogated, strip-searched and forced to sign and fingerprint a series of confessions pleadingguilty to her “crime.”

“They made me take off my clothes and squat and they threw my clothes in this slush andmade me put them back on,” she said. Eventually she was taken before a judge. He said,‘You are sinful and you are going to burn in hell.’

Yara’s husband, Hatim, a prominent businessman, used his political contacts in Jeddah totrack her whereabouts. He was able to secure her release.

strand of the argument. Last, is provid-ing affordable accommodation.

The college education is typicallyoffered at either Hebrew University orat Bethlehem University - and on rareoccasions at The University of Ammanor Cairo. It costs between $5,000 and$6,000 per student per year for booksand tuition. Accommodation so faroffered includes 45 houses in Bethlehem,65 on the Mount of Olives, 22 in BeitHanina and several apartments underconstruction in Nazareth.

Once scholarship recipients earn theirdegree, they are invited to move intothese complexes to live close to otherChristians.

“After learning about the problems inthe Holy Land, Christians in Americahave proven to be very generous,” saysPeter, who travels to the US twice a yearto fundraise for the cause. To recognizesuch generosity, the Franciscans havecreated a Memorial Hall at the Churchof the Nativity in Bethlehem. Let These PeopleStayby Maria Hjort, The Jerusalem Post

‘The Holy Land is a lighthouse — thepeople here create light through theirfaith to guide the rest of the world. IfChristians are no longer living here, the light will die down and ships willget lost in the dark,” says Ronny Levyof the Franciscan Foundation for theHoly Land (FFHL).

It may seem odd that an Orthodox Jewhas dedicated himself to finding waysof keeping Christians in Israel, but forLevy it’s as natural as breathing.

“Jews must support Christians in the Holy Land. Their presence herestrengthens the Jewish people inIsrael,” explains Levy, who has workedwith the FFHL since 2001. “TheChristians intermediate between theJews and the Muslims. If there are noChristians left, the churches will behollow, meaningless buildings andthe pilgrims and tourists will nolonger come.”

The current prognosis is worrisome. In 1900, Christians constituted 13.2percent of the national population.Today that number has dropped below2%, and if nothing is done, pessimisticvoices warn, in 60 years there may beno Christians left in Israel.

The FFHL established a task force tolearn why Christians leave and whatmight convince them to stay. And afterinterviewing young Arab Christians inIsrael and the PA-controlled territories, they discovered, unsurprisingly, thatmany leave because of political andeconomic pressures.

But the Franciscan task force believesthere is a three-fold solution to con-vince young Christian Arabs to stay.

The first is to offer them a collegeeducation so they can get work asprofessionals, which is the second

Patrick Cox, one of Zola’s favorite commentators, has a knack for sayingmuch with few words. –Jeffrey Seif

APRIL 2008

Israel Is Calling You HomeIsrael Is Calling You Home

“The Target is YOU!”By Hillel Fendel,www.IsraelNationalNews.com

Brigadier General (US Army, retired) Nick Halley, a veteran of Vietnam, Grenada and Desert Storm (Iraq) says the war against radicalIslam is a no-choice prospect, inwhich the West must do everythingit can to win.

In his book Terrorism: The Targetis You!, Gen. Halley calmly butemphatically calls upon theAmerican public to internalize thatthe war imposed upon them byextremist Muslims is for real. Eachand every citizen has a role to playin this war, Halley says, mainly inunderstanding that a concerted wareffort is crucial. His list of “Do’s”and “Don’ts” includes the follow-ing: Don’t judge progress based oncasualty reports; Don’t have unre-alistic expectations; Don’t overre-act to bad news or future terroristattacks; Do be alert; and Do putaside political differences in orderto present a unified front againstradical Islam.
