COACHING KIDS TO THE NEXT LEVEL

PHYSIQUE ELITE RUGBY ACADEMY also teaches players to understand the game, so that they are confident in performing the different tasks properly, which will keep them safe and make the game for them and spectators, enjoyable and exciting.

Last season we had between 80-100 junior players of various ages (from J6 through to College) participate, learn and enjoy a full week of rugby learning, training and playing.

Each participant is encouraged to get involved and contribute to the many lessons involved, including performing the Haka (like the All Blacks), sing a “team song” and complete various assignments, and even homework.

Our trainers are former or current Premier rugby players, with an extensive experience mix in coaching or teaching juniors. They are good people that naturally form a very strong bond with the kids, and these relationships help inspire the kids to consistently try their best, be it on the field or in the classroom.

We believe that in teaching rugby players the right way to perform the basics of rugby – catch, pass and tackle, our players need to be taught the correct techniques and be able to practise the skills on a regular basis. Once these fundamental abilities are understood and can be completed consistently, players can progress onto the additional various skills in-volved in playing good, safe and effective rugby.

The 5-day PHYSIQUE ELITE RUGBY ACADEMY programme held at the Silverdale Rugby Club provides such a platform.

Welcome

For the past 10 years I have been coaching rep teams at coast basketball. I have seen this club go from one team to multiple teams in each age group boys and girls. The coast has so much talent to offer the game of basketball and I feel it’s my duty to develop that talent through schools and at rep level.

My goal was to use basketball as a vehicle to teach young athletes about the lessons we can learn from team sports that will later help them in life. Persistence, hard work, consistency working together in a team and that’s it’s ok to make mistakes. The one thing I did not expect was the life lessons I learned from coaching youth. Patience, empathy and to be a role model for them on court and off.

Basketball has grown so much over the past 10 years on the coast. I’m excited to be a part of it for the next 10 years and to continue to develop those that choose to participate in this amazing sport. I will continue to run Holiday program’s, school skill sessions and rep teams to improve young athletes fundamentals. Classes for childrenOur very popular junior classes suit children aged 4-12 years old. We teach a range of martial arts techniques aimed at developing both physical and mental capabilities. Children become stronger and more flexible while also learning co-ordination and improving their concentration.

Children’s classes are designed to be fun as well as instructional. Children learn that physical activity can be enjoyable, and they learn good technique as well as self- discipline. Junior classes are structured to suit the learning needs of children. We don’t expect children to learn like adults.

Our style is non-competitive, we don’t want children to fight each other to win, so you don’t have to worry about children getting hurt. All students learn to respect and help their fellow students and feel comfortable learning in a safe environment.

New students are welcome all the time. Classes have a mix of beginners and more advanced students, each working on their own curriculum. Our graded system starts at white belt. As each grade is attained more complicated techniques are introduced. Each new grade is a goal and keeps students motivated and keen to come to class to learn new things and practice things learnt.

You are invited to try a class and see if you like it. There is no obligation and no need to book. Just turn up to your nearest class and join in. You pay as you go and only for the lessons you attend. The first class is free.

Classes for Womens and girls TKMA have two focus sessions for women. – Saturday afternoon and Wednesday mornings Train with family members or friends. Your age and level of physical fitness, is not a barrier. If martial arts has ever been on your wish list or bucket list we will help you achieve your goals. You will improve your fitness, flexibility, strength and self-confidence. You will also start the process of learning to defend yourself. At TKMA you will find a warm welcome. LCF Fun Languages operates pre-school, after-school clubs, and language learning centres across New Zealand.
