Planet Pals

Wednesday, April 20; 11 am–Noon

Everyone can help save our planet, no matter how

small they are! Join us and learn how you can reduce,

reuse and recycle at home. Make a trash pizza,

discover where water pollution comes from and

run in the recycle relay game.

Feathered Friends

Wednesday, May 4; 11 am–Noon

Did you know the bones of a pigeon

weigh less than its feathers? Birds have

a lot of unique adaptations! Discover

the different types of beaks birds

have, dissect an owl pellet and

practice your bird calls.

Honey Bee Hunt

Wednesday, June 8; 11 am–Noon

Did you know a bee has 5 eyes? Build a bee and

learn how these insects pollinate flowers, then

discover the roles of bees and how a hive works.

Go on a bee hunt around the park to search for

the best smelling flowers!

Earth Buddies

Wednesday, April 20; 1–2 pm

Even youngsters can take better care of the Earth.

Read a story, make a litter bug and play

games to learn fun and easy things kids

can do to be an Earth Buddy!

Baby Birds

Wednesday, May 4; 1–2 pm

All birds lay eggs! Explore the lives of baby birds

from when they were eggs to the time they leave the

nest! Play a memory game, make a baby bird craft

and then go on an "egg"citing egg hunt!

Busy Bees

Wednesday, June 8; 1–2 pm

Bees are really important in our gardens! Read

"The Honey Robber and the Bee" by Eric Carl and

discover the world of bees and honey! Find your

fellow bees by following your sense

of smell, make a bee and then

have a sweet treat!

Nature Friends

Explore the natural world through hikes, nature

activities, outdoor exploration, games and crafts.

Meet at the Park Pavilion. For ages 6-9. Fee:

Earth Day Party

Tuesday, April 19, 11 am – Noon

Celebrate Earth this April by joining us for an

Eco-Party! Learn how we can reuse everyday

objects to reduce our trash! Blow bubbles, make

musical instruments and create bird feeders.

Prepare to get crafty and save the planet by

reducing, reusing and recycling!

Bird Watchers

Tuesday, May 3, 11 am – Noon

It's Spring and the birds are out singing, dancing

and are ready to play! Discover Crowder's birds

with us and play Bird ID Bingo, build a nest and

search for worms in a fun predator and prey game!

The Buzz on Bees

Tuesday, June 7, 11 am – Noon

Celebrate our #1 pollinator by learning about the

busy bees of Crowder Park. Learn the dances of

bees and how they communicate, discover how

pollination works and taste different types of honey.

Then plant a flower in our container garden.

Night Time Explorers

Friday, April 1, 6-7 pm

The park comes alive after dark! Let the moon

guide your way as we walk down our new nature

path in search of these night time critters. Play

fun games and try to catch some nocturnal bugs!

Fantastic Frogs

Friday, May 6, 6:30– 7:30 pm

Rribbit! Listen to the chorus of frogs and toads as

the sun sets at Crowder District Park.

Sort through facts about toads and frogs,

play froggy bingo and make a herp hotel!

Then walk down to the pond and hear our

amphibian friends in action!

Summer Fun

Friday, June 10, 7– 8 pm

Join us for a night of family fun at the park!

Play nature games, observe nocturnal animals

and roast s'mores around the campfire.

Kids Get Crafty

Flower Fun Saturday, May 14; 11 am–Noon

The flowers are in full bloom at the park!

Join us for a program bursting with

color! Create flowers using recyclable

materials and make a flower press

of a real flower. Then paint a flower

pot to grow a plant in at home!

For all ages; fee: $4/Child.

Preregistration is required.

Discover the Park

This FREE drop-in program does not

require preregistration. Meet a park

naturalist on the boardwalk to discover

a new theme each month. For all ages.

Check Out A Discovery Box

Want to explore the park with the knowledge of

a naturalist? Check out a discovery box from

the park! Discovery boxes are self-guided

lesson plans, intended for use by teachers of

small classes or parents who wish to educate

children without requesting a formal program

through the office. All boxes come complete

with hands on lesson plans, equipment, story

books, guides and take home activities!

Discovery boxes can be checked out at the

park office. Stop by and sign one out today!

Polliwogs Summer Camp

This summer, Crowder District Park is offering three drop-off mini camps for preschoolers ages 4-5.

Camps offer your preschooler hands-on nature activities including visits with live animals, hikes, crafts, games,

and more. Each camp offers a different theme. There will be two adult staff with the kids at all times. Kids bring

their own snacks. Preregistration is required. Camp size is capped at 16, so sign up early! Fee: $36/child.

TREES

Tuesday–Thursday, June 21–23; 9 am–Noon

Big and tall, short and small, trees come in all shapes and sizes. You will be so amazed at

what trees do for our Earth! Discover the parts of the tree and go on a scavenger hunt.

Then help us plant a flower to help feed the butterflies and bees of the park.

WATER

Tuesday–Thursday, July 12–14; 9 am–Noon

Where does our water come from and why is it important? Learn about the water cycle,

and explore the critters that live in and around the pond. Prepare to get wet as we

splash around and learn about this important resource!

ANIMALS

Tuesday–Thursday, August 9–11; 9 am–Noon

Join us this week as we explore the animals that live in the park. Collect

bugs, slugs and other slimy critters and learn about their habitat. Then

meet “Popcorn”, our corn snake and other reptiles.
