Do you need help ? ? ?

If you have a disability or are at an age in which you cannot accomplish yardwork, such as cutting grass, raking leaves, cleaning brush or have minor repairs around the house that need to be done, please contact the Grand Knight at 757-675-7504 to see if the Knights of Columbus can help.

40 CANS FOR LENT During Lent the Knights of Columbus will conduct the “40 Cans for Lent” program. The goal of this program is for each parishioner to contribute one can of food per day during the forty days of Lent. Please place cans of food or non-perishable food items in the box located in the Commons during Lent to help those in need.

Regulations For Fast and Abstinence

Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older who have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday. On a fast day, one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one's needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed.

Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence, no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted.

Good Friday, April 14, 2015, is a day of fast and abstinence. All the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence.

Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at Easter.

2017 Annual Diocesan Appeal:

Building Our Family of Faith

Over the past month, many of our parishioners have contributed their support to the 2017 Annual Diocesan Ap-

peal. To date, we have raised $9,831.00 on a target of $12,350.00 putting us at 80.4% of our target. If you have

already made your 2017 Appeal gift, please accept our gratitude for your commitment.

Oftentimes when we think about our Catholic Church, we think about St. Luke Catholic Church. Although this is

understandable, it is also essential to realize that we are a part of a much larger family of over 236,000 Catholics

covering 33,000 square miles. The reason the Appeal is so vital is that it allows our Diocese to fund large ministry

needs that one parish alone cannot address. The nineteen ministries supported by the Appeal work together to

ensure that we are advancing our parishes, supporting our clergy and growing our faith.

If you have not had the opportunity to contribute, please pick up a pledge envelope from our parish office. You

can also donate securely online, as well as learn more about the nineteen ministries the Appeal supports, by

visiting http://richmondcatholicfoundation.org/giving/annual-appeal/. Please join us in supporting the 2017

Annual Appeal.

nuestras parroquias, apoyando a nuestro clero y creciendo nuestra fe.

Únase a

nosotros para apoyar la Apelación Anual 2017.
