Walls Go Up First--
But Not This Week
While the rain this week has been a blessing, in
many ways it has delayed the start of our Habitat
house by a week. The construction site is too
muddy, so now the serious work of building a new
Habitat home will begin next Saturday (April 13) at
8:00 a.m.
Four Bethany
members will be
helping launch
the exciting ven-
ture: Steve Fate,
Bettye Jackson,
and Alice Jane
and Don Lanier.
You can volun-
teer to help any
of the next Saturdays (either morning, afternoon, or
both).
Plan ahead, because we need to let Habitat
know who will be helping and when. There is a sign-
up sheet on the bulletin board at Bethany, or you
can let Alice Jane know
(918-299-0699; email :
[email protected]) when
you can help. She needs
to call Habitat each Mon-
day with our helpers'
names for that week. That
will give enough time to
line up additional workers
if they are needed.
We are building at 4021 W. 54th Street in west
Tulsa. It's a good idea to share rides, because park-
ing is at a premium. Work begins each Saturday at
8 a.m. There is a snack break at mid-morning and
lunch is provided at noon. If the weather is not co-
operating (as it did this week) call 918-280-7125 to
see if construction will continue on that particular
Saturday. (see map at http://mapq.st/16oLySD)
Choosing a Monastic
Have you ever wondered why a person
would choose to be a monk? Our Bible Study
class that meets at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday will
delve into when and
why serious Christians
began to separate
themselves from the
world and live in mon-
asteries.
Our DVD teacher,
Dr. Luke Timothy John-
son, is helping us follow
the Christian move-
ment that began with
small bands of believ-
ers in Jerusalem who
then added to their number until they became
the state religion of Rome and eventually have
changed the history of the world. It truly is a fas-
cinating story. We would be happy to have
you join us. Coffee is served at 9:15 a.m.
The Northeast Active Timers
(NEATs), is a faith based
agency providing program
and services for 55+,
including centenarians,
Please see the NEAT’s Newsletter
posted on the Bulletin Board. Be sure to
sign up in advance at 918-743-1303 for
most attractions!
