Dear Parishioners, I wish all of you a Blessed and Happy Easter! I hope you have a wonderful time with your loved ones today! We have so much to be thankful for. Most of all because we have a God who loves us. We are his precious sons and daughters. That is our truest dignity and identity. So often we are identified, or we identify ourselves with our sins or struggles, but our deepest dignity and identity comes from God. God sent his son so that He could become one of us, being born to us as an infant. Jesus loved us so much that He took on our human flesh; he took on our human frailty, that he may be like us in all ways but sin. And then, he would grow up in a family like us, and then die for us that we might have life. Think about that for a moment. Jesus loved us so much that he freely died for us. There is no greater love than that. And, we are called to love in the same way; to die to self for others to serve others. This is how we express our love for them. But, the story doesn’t end there. For, three days later Jesus rose from the dead. In doing to He proved that He is God. That is probably the number one thing that people deny in one way or another in our culture today, the divinity of Jesus. If Jesus is not God, we can create our own truth and justify our own life in whatever we want to do. But, if Jesus is God, which we know to be true, that changes everything. It means that there is objective unchangeable truth in the person and teaching of Jesus that we need to live our lives by. We seek truth from so many sources in our culture and change it to fit our whims. But it is Jesus himself who is truth incarnate who we are looking for in our heart of hearts. We yearn for intimacy with Jesus. And, He calls us today to a relationship with Him. If you have been away from the sacraments of the church now is the time to return back to the Father’s house. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Once again, Happy Easter! God Bless, Fr. Butler
