MEDIA ADVISORY
April 26, 2015 Morning Update
A small contingent of yesterday's protestors caused violent disruptions downtown and in west Baltimore last night and early this morning after what had been mostly peaceful protests throughout the day. Approximately 34 people were arrested and six officers suffered minor injuries. Additionally, multiple storefronts were vandalized and several police vehicles and other property was damaged. Members of the BPD along with our local and state law enforcement partners worked through the early morning hours to calm the situation. Fans were temporarily held at Camden Yards last night until we were absolutely sure it was safe for them to depart.
We will continue to have extra officers deployed throughout the city this weekend. We would also like to thank the media for encouraging our community to demonstrate peacefully.
