Selection Examination Guidelines for International Applicants Living Overseas to the Cultural Resource Management Program

･Applicants who successfully pass this entrance examination may enroll in April 2021. ･Only international student applicants residing overseas will be accepted. Japanese and foreigners living in Japan are to take the entrance examination for April 2021 enrollment into the Graduate School of Human and Socio-Environmental Studies (Master’s Course) Division of Humanities at Kanazawa University and select this program after entering the university.

1. Admission policy The aim of the program is to produce specialists in cultural resources management. Cultural resources include both tangible resources, such as historical ruins and objects, and intangible resources, such as traditional knowledge and craft technology. Cultural resources are an indispensable foundation for the future lives of human beings, so they must be documented, analyzed, preserved, and utilized properly. Students in the program will participate not only in basic theoretical discussions in class but also explore how actual cultural resources are managed in the field and various problems arising from this cultural resource management through internships and field surveys. Students in the program should have strong interests in a range of cultural phenomena, and have experienced basic anthropological, archaeological, or museological training in undergraduate education. Subjects in this program are in principle taught in English. 2. The number to be admitted A few 3. Qualifications for applying Those who fall under any of the following categories or are expected to fall under such categories by March 31, 2021 shall be qualified.

(1) A person who has graduated from a university described in Article 83 of the School Education Act (No. 26 of 1947 Act)

(2) A person who has been granted a bachelor’s degree pursuant to the provisions of Article 104, Paragraph 7 of the School Education Act

(3) Persons who have completed a 16-year course of school education with a regular curriculum in a foreign country

(4) A person who has completed a course of an educational institution in Japan which is recognized by his or her country as having a curriculum of a university under the said country’s education system and which is designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

(5) A person who has, while living in Japan, completed a 16-year course under the said foreign country’s education system by taking subject classes of a foreign school through a distance learning system

(6) A person who has been granted an academic degree equal to a bachelor’s degree in foreign university or other institution (limited to those institutions that have been evaluated by the government or by persons who have the approval of foreign government or relevant organizations or designated separately to be an equivalent by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in terms of comprehensive status of the education and research activities, etc.) by completing a program having a duration of study of 3 years or more (including those who have completed subject classes under a distance learning system offered by a foreign school while living in Japan or have completed a program at an educational institution in Japan that is part of the school education system of the specific country and that is separately designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)

(7) Persons designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (8) Persons who have completed a higher course of a specialized training college (restricted to a

college having 4 years or longer of a duration of study and that satisfies the standards determined by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) separately designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on after a day decided by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

(9) A person who has enrolled in a graduate school of other university pursuant to the provisions of Article 102, Paragraph 2 of the School Education Act and who is recognized to have appropriate abilities to receive graduate school education at a graduate school of Kanazawa University (hereinafter referred to as “the university”)

(10) A person who has enrolled in a university described in Article 83 of the School Education Act for 3 years or more, a person who has completed a 15 years of school curriculum in a foreign country, a person who has completed a 15 years of program under the education system of a foreign country by taking subject classes through a distance learning system provided by a school in the foreign country while living in Japan , or a person who has completed in Japan a program of an educational institution which is recognized to have 15 years of school curriculum of the country under the school education system of the foreign country and which is designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and who is recognized as having acquired prescribed number of credits with superior grades in a graduate school of the university

(11) A person who has reached 22 years of age and is recognized as having academic ability equivalent to or more of that of persons described in the item (1) as a result of individual screening by a graduate school of the university

[Note] In the event of (11), the following candidates will be recognized as qualifying through individual

screening. Persons who qualify for special transfer admission to the third year of a university, are aged 22 or older at the time of admission, and fall within any of the following categories. (a) A person who has studied in an advanced course at a junior college or technical college after

having qualified for special transfer admission to a university (b) A person who has work experience or other experience in activities with international

organizations or other institutions in a foreign country (c) A person who has been in the graduate school or the College of Human and Social Sciences

as a research student for a given period and has sufficient academic skills to qualify for the master’s course at the Graduate School of Human and Socio-Environmental Studies

4. Preliminary examination of qualifications

All applicants are subject to a preliminary examination. The preliminary examination is free of charge. Those who would like to apply under 3. (6), (9), (10), (11) (a), (b), or (c) above are asked to submit the following materials together with 5. Materials for submission to the address stated in 5. Materials for submission in PDF files via email for the individual preliminary examination of qualifications. (1) Graduation (completion) certificate or a certificate of prospective graduation (completion) issued by

the applicant’s last school (2) Transcript issued by the applicant’s last school

(3) Curricula and syllabi from the applicant’s last school or copies of equivalent documents (4) A certificate of enrollment that shows that the applicant has experience in business or experience in

activities (if applying under 3. (11) (b)) (in any form) (5) A document that describes the business or activities (written by the supervisors of such activities, if

applying under 3. (11) (b)) (in any form) [Note] Certificates and documents issued by foreign schools or organizations must be submitted with

an English version and an explanatory document.

5. Materials for submission Required documents for the preliminary examination are listed below. Prepare the documents and

Please submit your graduation certificate or a certificate of prospective graduation issued by your university or academic supervisor.

Graduation thesis or an alternative document

Please submit your graduation thesis (a copy is acceptable) or an alternative research paper or report (1,500+ words in English). If written in a language other than Japanese or English, it must be accompanied by a summary (accurately reflecting the content) in English.

(8) Proof of English proficiency

Please submit an official English proficiency test score certificate (TOEIC/TOEFL/IELTS, etc.). We do not accept documents printed with score confirmation screen in the internet as proof documents. English native speakers (those who were born and raised in a country with English as the official language and acquired English as the first language) are exempted.

6. Notification of preliminary examination of qualification and preliminary examination results The results will be sent by email by 17:00 on Fri., November 13, 2020 (Japan time). 7. Application procedures (1) Period for acceptance of application

Applications will be accepted after the results of the preliminary examination are announced. Please submit your application by 17:00 on Fri., November 20, 2020 (Japan time).

(2) Procedures for internet application

②Entrance examination fee Please pay the entrance examination fee (30,000 yen) during the application period. Payment methods will be announced at the time of notification of the application qualification preliminary examination results.

Upload a photo of the applicant from the URL provided in the email confirming the completion of the registration after the online registration and payment of the admission examination fee. (Note) Use only un-edited color photographs showing upper body, no caps, facing straight, with

plain background, and taken within the past three months (100KB -5MB jpg or png format file.)

8. Selection examination

(1) We will conduct an interview in English about the contents of application documents and other matters for the candidates who pass the preliminary examination and complete the application procedures.

(2) Applicants must use a webcam for the oral examination so that their identity can be confirmed. Interviews are conducted via Skype. Please set up a webcam and Skype account beforehand.

(3) Online interview examinations will be held by Fri., December 4, 2020, with scheduling arrangements made in advance via email between the applicant and the faculty member under whom they wish to study.

9. Announcement of examination results

Date: Thu., January 7, 2021 at 15:00 (Japan Time) The results will be listed on our website.

Scholarships (for international students) Kanazawa University offers some scholarships. (1) Admission fee: ¥282,000 (estimated); Tuition: ¥267,900 (estimated) (for the first semester, or ¥535,800 for one year (estimated)); Disaster and accident insurance for student education and research: ¥2,430 (for two years) (estimated). Admission and tuition fees are subject to change in accordance with circumstances. (2) Attention: After submission, application documents cannot be returned or modified. Fees are non-refundable. If an application document is found to contain false statements, admission may be revoked. In that case, paid admission fees will not be refunded. Applicants are advised that the deadline of admission procedure is strictly followed. If successful applicants fail to enroll by that date, they will be seen as having declined their admission.

・本選抜による合格者は 2021 年 4 月に入学します。

・本選抜は，海外在住の外国人留学生を対象としています。日本人及び日本在住の外国人留学生は，

金沢大学大学院人間社会環境研究科 博士前期課程[第1期募集・第２期募集]の人文学専攻を受験

し，入学後，本プログラムを選択してください。

1. 学生受入方針(アドミッション・ポリシー)

本プログラムは文化資源マネジメントの専門家の養成を目指します。文化資源には歴史遺跡や遺物

からなる有形文化財と，伝統知識や工芸技法などの無形文化財が含まれます。これら文化資源は人類

の未来に欠かせない基礎を提供するものであり，それ故に記録され，研究され，維持され，その有効

な活用を探るべきものです。本プログラムでは参加学生が教室で基礎理論について勉強し議論するだ

けでなく，実際にそれら文化遺産が現場でどのように維持管理され活用されており，そこでどんな問

題が生じているのかを，現地研修や現地調査を通じて探求していきます。

本プログラムの参加学生には，広く文化事象について強い関心をもつとともに，基礎的な文化人類

学，考古学，博物館学等の素養を学部段階で修得していることが望まれます。

本プログラムの対象科目は原則的に英語で開講されます。

次の各号のいずれかに該当する者又は2021年3月31日までに該当する見込みの者とします。

(1) 学校教育法（昭和22年法律第26号）第83条に定める大学を卒業した者

(2) 学校教育法第104条第4項の規定により学士の学位を授与された者

(3) 外国において学校教育における16年の課程を修了した者

(4) 我が国において，外国の大学の課程を有するものとして当該外国の学校教育制度において位置付

けられた教育施設であって，文部科学大臣が別に指定する当該課程を修了した者

(5) 外国の学校が行う通信教育における授業科目を我が国において履修することにより当該外国の学

校教育における16年の課程を修了した者

(6) 外国の大学その他の外国の学校（その教育研究活動等の総合的な状況について，当該外国の政府

又は関係機関の認証を受けた者による評価を受けたもの又はこれに準ずるものとして文部科学大

臣が別に指定するものに限る。）において，修業年限が三年以上である課程を修了すること（当

該外国の学校が行う通信教育における授業科目を我が国において履修することにより当該課程を

修了すること及び当該外国の学校教育制度において位置付けられた教育施設であって文部科学大

臣の指定を受けたものにおいて課程を修了することを含む。)により，学士の学位に相当する学位

を授与された者

おける15年の課程を有するものとして当該外国の学校教育制度において位置付けられた教育施設

であって，文部科学大臣が別に指定する当該課程を修了した者であって，本研究科において，所

定の単位を優れた成績をもって修得したと認めたもの

(11) 本研究科において，個別の入学資格審査により，出願資格(1)に定める者と同等以上の学力があ

ると認めた者で，22歳に達したもの

【注】(11)において，個別審査により出願資格が認められるものは次のとおりです。

大学に3年次編入の資格があり，入学時点で22歳に達するもので次のいずれかに該当する者

(a) 大学編入学資格取得後，さらに短期大学または高等専門学校の専攻科等における学習歴を有

する者

(b)実務経験や海外における国際的団体等での活動経験を有する者

(c)本研究科または本学学類研究生として所定の期間在学し，本研究科博士前期課程に出願する

に足りる学力を有すると認められる者

全ての志願者は，出願資格事前審査を受けなければなりません。なお，この事前審査は無料です。

また，上記の3.出願資格(6),(9),(10),(11)(a),(b),(c)により出願しようとする者は,個別に出願資

格審査を行いますので,「5.提出書類」と併せて下記の書類を全てPDFに変換して,「5.提出書類」に記

直近3ヶ月以内に撮影した100KB～5MBのjpg又はpng形式のデータを使用してください。

8．選抜試験

(1) 出願資格事前審査に合格し，出願手続を完了した者に対して，出願書類の内容等について英語に

よる面接試験を行います。

(2) 本人確認のためWebカメラを用います。Skypeを利用しますので，アカウント及びWebカメラを事

前

に入手してください。

(3) Webによる面接試験は,事前に受験者と指導を希望する教員との間でE-mailで日程調整を行った上

で,12月4日（金）までに実施します。

12. 入学料及び授業料等について

(2) 注意:出願書類提出後は，書類の返却,記載事項の変更，及び入学検定料の払戻しには応じませ

ん。出願書類に虚偽の記載，不正申告をした者及び入学試験において不正な行為を行った事実

が判明した者については，入学後であっても入学許可を取り消すことがあります。その場合，

振り込まれた入学料は返納しません。出願者は，入学手続きの期日が厳密に定められているこ

外国人留学生日本就職促進プログラム 「かがやき・つなぐ」北陸・信州留学生就職促進プログラム 日本での就職・キャリアを考えてみませんか。 プログラム履修者のうち，日本企業就職希望者は 100％日本企業から内定を獲得しています。 本学では，文部科学省「留学生就職促進プログラム」の採択事業として，日本での就職を検討している外国人留学生を対象にビジネス日本語教育・キャリア教育・インターンシップを軸とした付加カリキュラムを展開しています。これにより，高度な専門知識と技術を有するだけでなく，日本の企業文化や地域特性を理解した上で地域に根付く，柔軟でタフな高度職業人材を育成し，北陸・信州地域の産業活性化と日本の経済成長に貢献する人材を輩出しています。 英国経済紙フィナンシャル・タイムズにも掲載されたプログラムです（註：web にて現在も掲載中）。プログラム説明会は入学時期に応じて 4 月・10 月の年 2 回行います。日程は入学後に通知しますので、是非出席してください。
