    By Bill Vint - PBA

    PORTLAND, Maine –

    Gradually, RyanCiminelli of

    Cheektowaga, N.Y., is

     beginning to believe in

    himself, and thanks to a

    momentary burst of con-

    fidence, the 30-year-old

    left-hander rolled his

    way to a two-game

    sweep of 16-time

    Professional Bowlers

    Association title winner

Tommy Jones in the best-of-three-game title match

of the bowlingball.com PBA Maine Shootout at

    Bayside Bowl.

After winning a 2-1 decision over Michael Markin

of Tafton, Pa., in the Round of 64, and a 2-0 sweep

of Ronnie Russell of Marion, Ind., in the Round of 32, Ciminelli completed his run to his sixth PBA

Tour title and the $10,000 first prize with best-of-

three-game victories over Shawn Maldonado of

Houston, Texas; Wes Malott of Pflugerville, Texas,

and Tim Mack of Indianapolis before rolling past

Jones in the title match, 255-213 and 225-203.

“I caught these guys at the right time on the right

pairs of lanes,” Ciminelli said. “For once, everything

fell in place for me. I

    didn’t think I had a

chance to win this tour-nament, but I kept my

    head down and kept

    fighting.”

    Ciminelli’s confidence

    had bottomed out so

     badly he was consider-

    ing retirement, but he

made a great run in the

    second half of the 2015

    season, winding up sec-

ond in the 2015 PBA Player of the Year Race to

    Australia’s Jason Belmonte.

“My confidence is going up with every event,” he

said. “You’re not going to win every tournament you

bowl, but you have to keep knocking on the door.”

The next event on the PBA Tour schedule is theXtra Frame PBA Tour Storm Open, the second of 10

Xtra Frame PBA Tour events scheduled for 2016,

April 22-24 at Liberty Lanes in Carpentersville, Ill.

The Storm Open will be covered from to start to fin-

ish, live on PBA’s exclusive online bowling channel,

    Xtra Frame. Three-day, 30-day and full-year sub-

scriptions are available through the Xtra Frame link

    on pba.com.

    ARLINGTON, Texas – The

    United States Bowling

    Congress has revoked approval

    of two Motiv brand bowling

ball s and remov ed them from

the list of balls approved for

    competition effective as of

    March 15, 2016. The revocation

    comes after USBC determined

    that the Jackal and Jackal

Carnage balls do not complywith current specifications and

    requirements in the USBC

    Equipment Specifications and

    Certifications Manual.

    USBC testing showed a sig-

    nificant percentage of the

    Jackal and Jackal Carnage, both

     produced by Motiv, exceeded

    the maximum 0.060" differen-

    tial radius of gyration standard

    specification during spot

checks of bowling balls in the

    field. Both balls were originally

    approved based on test balls

    submitted by Motiv. The Jackal

    had been approved for competi-

tion in Sept. 2014 while theJackal Carnage was approved

for use in late Dec. 2015.

    The following section of the

    Equipment Specifications and

    Certifications Manual details

    USBC governance in this situa-

    tion:

    The USBC possesses the right

to spot check bowling balls dur-

ing the course of the year.

    USBC approval may be revoked

if it is determined that the pro-

    duction balls are significantly

    different than the submitted test

ball s or do not comply with cur-

    rent specifications and require-

ments outlined in the USBCEquipment Specifications and

    Certifications Manual.

    Pursuant to the penalties out-

    lined in the USBC Equipment

    Specifications and Certification

    Manual, Motiv is placed on
