On behalf of myself and the staff here at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, I want to wish you and your family a blessed and holy Easter. This day was made possible by the sufferings en-dured by Jesus so that we might have life that is eternal. Our hard work of prayer, fasting and almsgiving has lead us to the empty tomb, where we believe in Jesus, because he believed in us. Like the apostles, may we believe and live out our faith in the life, death and resurrection, so as to transform the world with the love that created us, sustains us, and raises us up. A huge THANK YOU goes out to the teams that put on the women’s and men’s Christ Renews His Parish retreats. A huge THANK YOU also goes out to those who said ‘yes’ to the invitation to participate in these retreats. You have not only strengthened you own faith, but even the faith of our parish and of our Church. The Picnic Committee is meeting and planning for our parish picnic. Put the following dates on your calendar, July 11, 12, 13. Keep your eyes and ears open for ways to help. The CD of the month is “The Mass Explained” by Fr. Larry Richards. There is a limited number and they will be available in the back of churches. Take one and listen to it and share it with others or bring it back for others to listen to. The Featured Ministry of the Week is Kaukauna Catholic Social Concerns: This committee is an umbrella for all the social concerns outreach programs of Holy Cross and St. Katharine Drexel. Our goal is to challenge our parishioners to become more involved in service and advocacy in our communi-ty. We promote a better awareness of the needs in our communi-ty and the opportunity to respond to those needs. Currently we have 4 SKD members with no term requirements. We meet at 6:00 Pm in the Haen Room at St. Paul Elder Services the last Monday of the month. We do not meet in June or July. Contact persons: Robin Schmidt (766- 0210), Shari Petersen (766-9156), Carol Cappaert (766-7196) or Jean Ryan (766-1661). I invite you to pray for those involved in this ministry and prayerfully consider joining this ministry. I invite you to collect all the ministries featured in the bulletin over the month, and then send them to me with the ministries listed, your full name, phone number, and mailing address. The dead line for those featured in April (April 6 – April 27) is May 4. The bulle-tins can also be found on our website www.skdchurch.org. You can mail them to me at the parish office or e-mail me at [email protected]. You will be entered in a drawing for a $25 scrip gift certificate. Together let us advance the mission of Jesus through faith-filled prayer, service to my neighbor, and generous sharing. Congratulations to Edie Schneider, who won in the month of March. Matthew: The King and His Kingdom, is a video study featuring Jeff Cavins a renowned Catholic Bible teacher. This bible study will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM at St. Mary (Social Hall) and Thursday at 6:30 PM at St. Aloysius (Upper Lounge). Both sessions contain the same information. Contact Fr. Jerry 766-1445. Apr. 24 Matthew 28 Conclusion: The Triumph of the King

Exsultet The Exsultet is the great Easter proclamation sung at the Easter Vigil. It is sung by the deacon or priest, or if necessary, by a cantor. It is a great hymn of rejoicing in this Easter night

which celebrates Christ rising from the dead. The hymn references many biblical events in salvation history. It is a hymn of praise in honor of Christ the Redeemer. This hymn is sung in the presence of the lighted Easter Candle while all assembled hold lighted candles as a remembrance of their baptism into the light of Christ. Mustard Seeds…. When I was little if I was travelling on a train with my father he would hold on to my ticket and would only give it to me just as I was about to go through the barrier. Simi-larly, God will unfold his plans little by little and often supply your needs only a moment before you require them. (From Matthew Kelly)

A Blessed Easter to all! This is my last week as Parish Nurse. I have so much to be thankful for. I remember the times of sharing Eucharist and prayer, the stories of your youth, dis-cussing problems at your kitchen tables, holding hands as we shared sorrows, and saying good-bye before some left for their next home in Heaven. It meant so much to wrap prayer shawls around your shoulders, reminding you that others were praying for you. The hospital visits, the bedside visits, often where we shared both laughter and tears. It has been a grace filled four years serving you and I have gained so much from this minis-try. You have helped me see Jesus at work in your lives and mine. You have helped me grow as a Christian and as a per-son. God's blessings to all of you!
