Did You Know...? Jesse Hobdy, the husband of Hazel Bagwell-Hobdy, donated property on the corner of Rossiter Street and Stowe Avenue in Mount Dora. They were so excited and couldn’t wait to make use of the property, so they built a Brush Arbor to worship in. Look closely and you will

see it on the right side of the wooden frame of the soon-to-be called,

The Tin Building.

~ Maggie ~

Since Jeff took a little time to lightly chastise us for the lack of joy on our faces as we sang “Soon and Very Soon” it has been in my head almost every day. Actually, we sang it at Waterman Village, and then I think Damien lead it again Sunday night. My mind has been playing it over and over again.

There are a couple of hymns that try to say the “signs” are present for Jesus’ return. Of course those hymns are now past the dates that the original authors had predicted. This hymn doesn’t try to give you a date or a sign, it just states the obvious: Jesus is coming back again and we will get to see the King in all His glory. When He comes back again all crying and all dying will cease. I don’t know what a world without crying and dying will be like but I want to go there!

Crying and dying come about because of the pain and misery this world brings on us. Sin is everywhere and the consequences of sin bring on the crying and the dying. When Jesus returns sin will cease and so will death. When that happens crying will no longer be necessary.

So will we no longer feel any negative emotion? I don’t know. But I do know that we will not live in an environment that will bring about the situations that give rise to negative emotions. Will we remember what happened on earth that caused crying and dying? Again, I don’t know.

Yes, I know that I don’t know much about what eternity will be like. So while I may not know what it will be like, I will still sing, “We are going to see the King; Hallelujah, Hallelujah, We’re going to see the King!”

THE SANDS OF TIME

The Sands of time are sinking, the dawn of heaven breaks; The summer morn I’ve sighed for, the fair sweet morn awakes; Dark, dark hath been the midnight, but dayspring is at hand,

And Glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

O Christ, He is the fountain, the deep sweet well of love; The streams of earth I’ve tasted, more deep I’ll drink above.

There to an ocean fullness His mercy doth expand, And Glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

The King there in His beauty without a veil is seen; It were a well spent journey, tho’ sev’n deaths lay between;

The Lamb with His fair army doth on Mount Zion stand, And Glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.
