First United Methodist Church April 13, 2016
There are many things that we as a congregation need to be praying about. All three synoptic gospels record Jesus' words that his house, (the church) shall be a house of prayer. You and I have been given speaking privileges before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We often take that for granted that we can be one on one with the Almighty. In 1855 Joseph Scriven penned the words, "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief's to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer." I often hear our youth director challenging our teenagers to spend time alone with God in prayer. She encourages them to spend five min-utes a day, and then the next week build it up to ten minutes, until they have really made prayer a priority in their spiritual lives. Let's join our youth in this great endeavor. However much time you spend in prayer, why not add five min-utes a day to that total. Here are some things that I would like for you to join me in praying for and about:
1. Many in this congregation are facing health related issues, we pray for their peace of mind and their physical healing.
2. Pray for our children's ministry and how we can expand it so that we can reach more children in Manchester and beyond.
3. Pray for our youth ministry that we may reach young people for Jesus in their formative years.
4. Pray for the overall mission of this local church, that people might be drawn to this congregation and meet Jesus here.
5. Pray for the United Methodist Church and for General Conference next month that we may remain faithful disciples.
6. Pray that God would lay a burden on your heart, and show you a ministry and a place of service in the local community.
The needs are great in Manchester, the way to have a ministry is to find a need and try to till that need.
7. Pray for our schools and for our first responder's, let them know how much you appreciate what they do.
8. Pray each week for the upcoming Sunday's activities, for the pastor, staff, Sunday School teacher's, and participants.
Ask God who he would have you to invite to church this coming Sunday.
9. Pray for genuine revival in your life, in this congregation, and in the church universal.
10. Pray for homes, families, and marriages across the community that are in chaos.
See you Sunday at the PRAYING PLACE, RANDY

The Wednesday night children’s performance is coming up soon, so children need to attend the practice sessions on Wednesday night. Special thanks to the parents who are practicing with their children, helping them learn their lines and songs.
Mark your calendar for May 11th, 6:00pm – 8:00pm, for a “Night at the Movies”. This event is the last night of the Wednesday night program until we resume in September. We will be serving dinner and of course lots of popcorn, so come hungry!
Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped to make the Wednesday night program such a success! I really believe there is a special blessing for those who give their time and love to minister to small children.

Senior Sunday is May 22, 2016. If you have a senior in high school you should have received senior information packet in the mail a few weeks ago. I need you to get those back to me as soon as possible as well as pictures so that I can start to get all that stuff lined up and ready for May 22. If your youth is go-ing to big stuff this summer I need the deposit which is $50. I will need that de-posit by April 17
th. The total cost of Big Stuf is $400.00. If that is a problem or
an issue and your youth wants to go please let me know and we can come up with a plan. If you would like to or feel called or lead to sponsor a youth to go to Big Stuf then please let me know that as well. Thank you for allowing us to come along side you and walk on this journey of faith and life. If you have any
questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to let me know.
In the GRIP of HIS grace,

A Note From Dana………….. Not long before she died in 1988, in a moment of surprising candor in televi-sion, Marghanita Laski, one of our best-known secular humanists and novel-ists, said, "What I envy most about you Christians is your forgiveness; I have nobody to forgive me. "What an incredibly sad thing to say.
I really appreciated Pastor Randy’s sermon on forgiveness this past Sunday. I was reminded of time in my life many years ago when I was in that dark place that we find ourselves in because we’ve made bad choices or simply chose to disobey God! But even when we are reconciled to God after our sin-
ful disobedience toward Him, we often times carry around guilt. I remember well having a conversation with a good Christian friend of mine. I was sharing with him about how God had delivered me from my selfish behavior but that I still was burdened down with guilt. My friend asked “Do you believe that God has forgiven you completely?” I an-swered “Yes.” And he said to me “Well then, if the God of the universe has forgiven you, WHO ARE YOU TO CON-DEMN YOURSELF?!” That hit me like a “ton of bricks!” That day I decided to let God have my guilt. And He took it from me! I’m convinced that there are Christians among us who are spiritual “zombies!” They know they are forgiven but haven’t given up their guilt. I hope and pray that you are NOT one of those! But in case you are, you should do what Randy said to do in this past Sunday’s message: quit TRYING and start TRUSTING!
Grace and Peace, Dana
