INSTALLING WINDOWS SERVER 2003

In this session the OS is installed

o After inserting window server 2003 cd restart the system and press the del.

o In BIOS setup select “Boot device property” Order must be as following• CD ROM

• HARD DISK

• FLOPPY

o Press A to select windows server enterprise edition

MAKE THE HARD DISK PARTITIONS

1. First delete the existing partitions and make the new partitions

2. C:\ 15000

3. D:\ 60000 (for 11.5.7)

4. If we want another partition use remaining space

FOR INSTALLING OPERATING SYSTEM1. Select the C:\drive format the C drive for formatting select the NTFS file

system QUICK format

2. Press the Enter Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition will setup3. Give the full name of your company or organization

4. Name: oralabs

5. Organization: oralabs

6. The product key is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Let the system reboot automatically after installationFormat the other drives (D, E)

LAN CONFIGARATION

1. Select the properties of the MY NETWORK PLACES2. Select the properties of the LAN

3. Select IP (TCP/IP) properties give the IP address 192.168.0.<terminal no.>

4. Create the Loop Back Adapter through Hardware wizard give the IPaddress 192.168.1.<terminal no.>

CHAINGING COMPUTER NAME

1. Select properties of MY COMPUTER 2. Select the “Computer name” option and “change” the name (dev terminal no.)

3. Give the DNS suffix name (oralabs.com)

CREATING THE USER

1. Select the properties of the MYCOMPUTER and select manage option

2. Select the local user and groups and select the user’s properties3. Give the new user name <applmgr> and password <applmger>



4. If we want to put admin in groups select applmgr properties

5. Select the “member off “ option select advanced give the device terminal

name

PRE INSTALATION

1. Create 3 folders in C drive

Gnumake

Software Jdk Mkstoolkit

Visualstudio -common

Temp

Logdirectory Config .txt

STEP 1 (INSTALLING VISUALSTUDIO)

o Select the visual studio setup file give the key xxxxxxxxxxxx

o Give the path C:\Software\Visualstudio\common

o Select continue to install visualstudio

o Uncheck 1st and 3rd boxes

o Check the register environment variable

o Restart window and uncheck the install msdn and uncheck the register

PRE-INSTALL FOLDER:

STEP 2 (VISUALSTUDIO SERVICE PACK)

1. Click to open the folder “Step 2”, double click on “vs6sps.exe” give the path

to extract the files C:\temp

2. Go to C:\temp double click on setupsp5.exe

o Restart window

STEP 3 (JDK)

1. Open the “Step 1” folder, double click on “j2sdk_1_3_1_03-win.exe” and

give path c:\Software\Jdk 2. Click next for installing Jdk

SETP 4 (MKS TOOLKIT)



1. Click to open the folder “Step 3” and give the path C:\temp to extract the

files

2. Enter the serial no. And pin no. Given in the text provided in the samefolder

3. Select typical

4. Give the path C:\Software\mkstoolkit

STEP 5 (GNUMAKE)

Go to pre-install step#4:

1. Copy the files tar.exe, gunzip to in C:\windows\system32

2. Copy make3.79.1.tar.gz file to C:\software\Gnumake3. Go to command prompt

4. cd Software

5. cd Gnumake

6. gunzip make –3.79.1.tar.gz7. tar –xvf make –3.79.1.tar

8. cd make –3.79.19. build_w32.bat

10. “winrel build failed” ----this is a message

11. del config.h

12. ren config.h.w32 config.h13. build_w32.bat

14. “winrel build succeeded”—this is a message

15. subproc.bat16. cd winrel

17. Copy gnumake.exe c:\windws\system32\

18. cd\19. which gnumake

20. which java

21. exit

INSTALATION(FROM STAGE)

Go to command prompt

Go to stage10.2 drive(eg:D:\ or E:\) (mainly dump drive)

o Cd stage10.2

o Cd startcd

o Cd disk1

o cd Rapidwiz

o Rapidwiz (if system restarts use rapidwiz –restart and installation will

continue from here otherwise leave it and continue with next step)



o Data base type: vision demo database

o Set the NT user password: applmgr

o Give the MKS path C:\Software\Mkstoolkit\mksnt

o Give visual studio path C:\Visualstudio\VC98

o Give the java path C:\Software\Jdk

o Give the configuration file path C:\LogDirectory\config.txto In pre Install check all the checks should be marked “ √ “

o In the next step give the CDs as required by the installer

o The order of CDs

ora8i Disk 1 to Disk 2oraDB (or) RDBMS Disk 1 to Disk 4

oraAppDB (or) DatabasesDisk 1 to Disk 17

oraiAS (or) Tools Disk 1 to Disk 3oraApps (or) APPL_TOP Disk 1 to Disk 5
