Approved Route Changes and Service Expansion for June 2019

The WTA board of directors approved the following changes. New Routes We are adding the following new routes:

• 64 Maple Falls – Lynden – did not receive grant funding • 105 Fairhaven – Downtown • 196 WWU/Lincoln St • 197 Lincoln St/WWU

Changes to Schedules (no change to routing) We are changing the schedules—but not the routing—of the following routes:

• 1 Fairhaven – Downtown • 15 Cordata/WCC – Downtown • 24 Cordata • 49 Bakerview Spur - Downtown • 72X Kendall - Bellingham • 75 Blaine/Birch Bay – Bellingham • 80X Mt. Vernon – Bellingham • 107 WWU/Samish • 108 Samish/WWU - Downtown

Changes to Schedules and Routing We are changing the schedules and routing of the following routes:

• 3 Airport/Cordata – Airport/Downtown • 4 Hospital/Cordata – Hospital/Downtown • 50 Gooseberry Pt – Downtown • 190 Lincoln St - Downtown • 525 Electric - Downtown • 533 Yew St - Downtown

Changes to Routing (no change to schedule) • 26 Lynden – Cordata/WCC

Eliminated Routes We are eliminating the following routes:

• 5 Fairhaven – Downtown (portions of the eliminated route would be served by proposed Routes 105, 196, 197)

• 11 WWU – 32nd St (eliminated route would be served by proposed Route 105)

• 65 Everson – Ferndale (portions of the eliminated route would be served by proposed Route 64)

• 92 WWU/Lincoln Creek (portions of the eliminated route would be served by other WWU routes)

Changes to Schedules, No Changes to Routing Route 1 Fairhaven – Downtown

• On Weekdays, the :10 departure would change to :40 from 6:40 am to 5:40 pm. o The 6:10 am weekday trip would remain. o The :25 and :55 departures would remain from 6:25 am – 5:55 pm. o From 6:10 pm – 10:10 pm, buses would depart Bellingham Station at :10 and :40.

• On Saturdays, service would decrease from three trips per hour to two trips per hour. Buses would depart Bellingham Station at :10 and :40 from 8:10 am to 10:10 pm.

Route 15 Cordata/WCC – Downtown

• On Saturdays, service would depart Cordata Station 30 minutes earlier.

Route 24 Cordata • On Saturdays, service would depart Cordata Station 30 minutes earlier.

Route 49 Bakerview Spur

• On Saturdays, service would depart Bellingham Station at 8:55 am, 12:25 pm and 4:25 pm. • On Saturdays, service would depart Bakerview Spur at 9:47 am, 1:47 pm and 5:57 pm.

Route 72X Kendall - Bellingham

• On Saturdays and Sundays, the bus would depart Kendall at 7:37 am, instead of 7:52 am, arriving at Bellingham Station at 8:50 am.

• On Saturday and Sunday, the 2:40 pm trip would move to 2:10 pm. • On Saturday and Sunday, the 5:40 pm trip would move to 6:10 pm.

Route 75 Blaine/Birch Bay – Bellingham

• On weekdays, the 7:00 pm departure from Blaine would be eliminated. • On weekdays in the afternoon, the bus would depart five minutes later to help with

connections. Departures from Bellingham Station would be at 4:30 pm instead of 4:25 pm, 5:00 pm instead of 4:55 pm and 5:30 pm instead of 5:25 pm to help with connections. The 6:15pm trip would not change.

Route 107 WWU - Samish • On Weekdays, the bus would depart Bellingham Station at :40 instead of :25, from 6:40 am –

5:40 pm. • On Saturdays, the bus would depart Bellingham Station at :40 instead of :25, from 8:40 am –

5:40 pm.

• Service would be extended to State St, James St, Alabama St, Birchwood Ave, Maplewood Ave and Bakerview Rd.

• Service would no longer be provided on Cornwall Ave (between Champion St and Alabama St), Meridian St and Bellis Fair Pkwy. Route 331 provides service on Cornwall Ave and Route 15 provides service on Meridian St and Bellis Fair Pkwy.

• The proposed Route 4 would connect the Birchwood neighborhood to the nearest grocery store.

• Service would no longer be provided on Maplewood Ave. The proposed Route 4 would provide hourly service on Maplewood Ave and would connect to both Bellingham Station and Cordata Station on weekdays and Saturdays.

• Maplewood Ave would no longer have service on Sundays.

WTA did not receive grant funding and will not be offering this route.

• The route would be offered as a two-year pilot project if funded through a grant from Washington State Department of Transportation.

• If WTA does not receive the grant, we will not offer this route.

• Connects Maple Falls and Kendall to Everson and Lynden

• Service provided on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only

• On snow days, Route 64 would use Reece Hill Road instead of South Pass Road, ending in Everson. It would not serve Lynden on snow days.

The schedule of the PLUM Line would be affected.

1. From Bellingham Station to Lakeway Drive and Lincoln Street, there would still be 4 buses an hour.

2. On Lakeway Drive, heading East, from Lincoln Street to Woburn Street, service would be reduced from 4 buses an hour to 3 buses an hour.

3. On Lakeway Drive, heading West, from Woburn Street to Bellingham Station, there would still be 4 buses an hour.
