In accordance with the Open Meetings Act, 1976 PA 267, as amended, the Michigan Board of Dentistry met on December 10, 2015, at the Ottawa Building, Conference Room 3, 611 West Ottawa Street, Lansing, Michigan 48933.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA MOTION by Inman, seconded by Hines, to approve the agenda with the following addition: Under New Business: 9 B: Rules. MOTION PREVAILED APPROVAL OF MINUTES MOTION by Kaysserian, seconded by Franklin, to approve the October 8, 2015, meeting minutes with the following correction: Under Addendum #1: “American Educational Institute-Approved Sponsor August 2015 – August 2019 (1 year).” MOTION PREVAILED REGULATORY CONSIDERATIONS None ADEX Report- Dr. Rhonda Hennessy Dr. Rhonda Hennessy provided a handout of the “ADEX American Board of Dental Examiners CDCA/CITA Mission Statement” informing of the ADEX Dental Examination process. See Addendum #1. She answered questions from Board members regarding the process. COMMITTEE REPORTS Allegation Review Committee The committee reported that 22 files were reviewed, 9 files were authorized for investigation, 10 files were closed, and 3 file was returned for additional records. Continuing Education Committee Hines directed the Board to the list of providers seeking approval as sponsors for Dentistry Continuing Education and provided a verbal highlight of same. See the attached Addendum #2. Endorsement Committee No report. RDA Committee No report.


RDH Committee

Franklin reiterated the committee’s member’s interest in participation as conferees in RDH related cases. Manos will follow up.

Rules Committee

Report moved under New Business. PA 161 Update Erin Suddeth, Public Health Consultant with the Department of Health and Human Services, reported that no new PA 161 programs or renewals were added in November. The total number of programs is 53, with 100 supervising dentists and 221 registered dental hygienists. Disciplinary Subcommittee Hale reported that the Disciplinary Subcommittee reviewed 6 Consent and Stipulations, 1 Findings of Fact, 1 Petition for Reclassification, 1 Proposal for Decision and 2 Administrative Complaints. Chairperson’s Report Manos attended the American Dental Association (ADA) annual convention held November 5-10, 2015, in Washington, D.C. She served as one of the 17 table clinic judges for the organization called Student Clinician Research Program (SCADA). She also attended an ADA house of delegates meeting. The topics of discussion were updating manuals and changing bylaws to reflect acceptance of national certifying boards of each recognized specialty. She will also be attending the annual Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA) meeting that will be held January 14-16, 2016 in Orlando, Florida. MOTION by Hines, seconded by Kaysserian, to accept the committee reports as presented. MOTION PREVAILED OLD BUSINESS None


NEW BUSINESS Department Update Carpenter reminded the Board members to submit request for agenda items two weeks prior to the meeting. Rules MOTION by Kaysserian, seconded by Weidig, to accept the Dentistry draft administrative rules with the suggested changes. Discussion was held.
