Just a few lines to convey our gratitude to Mr Shantanu Mitra, our Wine Affairs India represen-
tative who has been instrumental in introducing the fine nuances of Australian wines to a dynamic
and exciting Indian market.
In spite of his a recent entry into the Indian wine arena, Mr Mitra made large inroads into the wary
Indian wine retail scenario, and accomplished a major breakthrough within a few months of his
first foray into the Indian wine supply chain. He was able to link up Wine Affairs International in
Australia, acting as their conduit, to the established import/distribution house Global Wines &
Spirits, its director Mr. Jatin Virmani and the famous pan Indian haute couture brand Kimaya.
Kimaya has always been synonymous with style, panache and a refinement of taste and by placing
Wine Affairs on the same podium, Shantanu was able to create a brand identity for Wine Affairs
International right from the outset of this enterprise. With a high decibel media blitz, the wines of
Australia (BIO) have arrived on Indian shores, courtesy Shantanu’s efforts. Interviews and media
coverage ensured that the taste of Australian wines lingered, long after the flashbulbs stopped
popping.
With effective communication skills, the ability to network and achieve targets, Shantanu has been
a seminal member of the Wine Affairs team and we are greatly appreciative of his efforts. We are
confident of five of our own excellent brands getting established in the Indian market soon this
year which he has also been responsible for.
