614 Vinyl Chloride Disease Two diseases arising from exposure to vinyl-chloride monomer are prescribed as industrial diseases under regula- tions which were laid before Parliament on Feb. 28. The dis- eases are angiosarcoma of the liver and osteolysis of the ter- minal phalanges of the fingers. Industrial injuries benefits will become payable for these two diseases from March 21, under the industrial diseases provisions of the Social Security Act 1975, to people employed in vinyl-chloride monomer polymeri- sation plants. Violence in Institutional Settings A meeting on the management of violence in institutional settings is being held by the Royal Society of Health in New- castle upon Tyne at 1.45 P.M. on Wednesday, April 6.
